Hey everyone I just the other day purchased a Neo Geo Big Red cabinet with a 4 slot motherboard and it came with 8 cartridges .. Metal Sulg 1,X,3,4, Last Resort, Samurai Showdown, Puzzle Bobble, and a 300 in 1 cart called Transformers Ultimate Edition 2011 .. I only paid 300 dollars for everything .. The cab is nearly in perfect cosmetic shape and everything works perfectly except the 300 in 1 cart .. That thing blows it has no 4th button support and it comes with a bunch of 2d fighters that are 4 and 6 button games .. And to top it off it's incredibly glitchy .. I do like the idea of an all in 1 cart but it obviously has to work .. Do any of you guys know if the Multigame 161 in 1 cart works well ??? I'm thinking about purchasing one soon ..

Its a Neo cart that requires 6 buttons? How the hell...? Is it make for some kind of fake MVS that actually has six buttons or is it just THAT badly made? What are the games?
Anyway, no, I don't know jack about that pirate junk. I'd rather have 5 good games than 500 glitchy pieces of hacked crap that don't run right that I'd never play anyway. I mean...I don't think there even ARE 161 Neo games, and even if there were I certainly don't need to play every one of them. 8 Man and Gowkaiser and ShinOKen can go to hell.
-
Only about 94 of the games on the 161 cart are "official" neo games. The other 60 something are all hacks. Mostly for the fighting games. I agree with Zeta that you can't beat having the real deal, but not having to swap carts in a cab is great.
-
Sounds like a pretty nice deal for $300, even if the multi-cart is broke (or junk from day one). My only experience with such carts is that my bro-in-law has one (128 in 1?), and it seems to work just fine to me. No glitches or anything, but they're not all unique games (repeats with various hacks/cheats enabled).
-
I have a "100+" game MVS cart that works fine, but it's not that one. I haven't played everything yet, but the only imperfection I've come across so far is that the corner of the screen glitches for a split second at one moment during the intro cinema of SNK vs Capcom. I don't know if it's the cart or the CMVS hardware though, as my AES console playing legit carts did something worse all the time when using an rgb to component transcoder.
It's a great way to try out games before buying them, as MVS carts still cost real money (just usually less than AES) and some are pricey.
-
dude that's a damn good deal.....

The 300 in 1 cart has Cps 1&2, some random games and also Neo Geo games. It's actually for the use of any jamma cab. It totally sucks because most of the games on it are Neo Geo and Cps 2 fighter games. It only supports the first 3 buttons on the control panel. The reason I want one of those Neo 161carts is because it has a bunch of fighters that me and my buddies really enjoy playing. I don' t really want to get caught up in the Neo thing again. Lol just trying to focus on spending my hard earned cash on OBEYING !! But for the great deal I couldn't pass up buying that perfect looking cab..
-
You know... one of these days I may pick up something like this to hook up a TG16 to. Be a neat little addition for Jimilee to be mad about. :)
-
Lol, how do cps1 games do look on a mvs hardware?
Pix plz :)
-
Lol Ok maybe I'm confusing people with this one. The 300 in 1 cart is for use on any arcade that suports a jamma harnes. I use it on my Neo Geo big red cabinet by plugging it directly to the jamma harness. The multigame 161 in 1 cart that i want to purchase is for use on the Neo Geo's motherboard.
-
Ok so...that's not a "cart" then, it's an entire JAMMA PCB.
You need to buy a kick harness and drill some holes in big red.
-
do some research on the multicarts, some dont like the 4 sluts.
-
The 161 is supposed to work with a 4-slot, but it has to be inserted into the first slot and can be the only cart installed. Otherwise it acts all wonky.
-
Ok so here's a pic of the Trans formers Ultimate Edition 300 in 1 cart .. It only supports the first 3 control panel action buttons that are assigned on a Jamma harness .. It has no place on it for a kick harness nor dose it support one .. I did a little research and it turns out that this cart is a total pile of shit .. It has a decent list of 2d fighters but all require either 4 buttons or 6 buttons in order to play them properly .. Gonna do some more research on the Neo Geo Multicart 161 in 1 cart .. I'll be sure to only have that cart in my Neo Geo 4 slut motherboard when I get it so that it wont act up on me .. Thanks guys for all the help and suggestions ..

It clearly has pins for buttons 4, 5, and 6 for both players one and two on the weird "Paradise Elf Adaptor", whatever the f*ck that is.
I'm really interested to know WTF this board is. I mean, the Neo and CPS are really similar systems, but I've never seen a system that will run both. I have seen PCBs that were basically a PC running a shitload of games under (questionable) emulation. That's probably what this is, but it sure doesn't look like it.
-
Mr SignOfZeta your the man !! Apparently the reviews for the 300 in 1 cart I read were from right when the it first released .. They do not come with any of the 2 adapters I have .. That would explain why some of the reviews said the 4th action button dose not work on their cabs .. I just wired up the player 1 & 2 4th buttons from the elf adapter to the player 1 & 2 4th buttons on my Big Red and it worked ! I'm definitely not gonna drill the extra holes I need to play the Cps1 & 2 fighters on my Big Red .. I'll just wait until I score on a cab with the 6 button layout on it already .. Good looking out on schooling me on this one .. Lol I'm totally glad I posted up !!

I own a 161 in 1 MVS cart along with a ton of actual mvs games. I can't tell the difference when the games are running. Only problem is you can't save hi-scores. Well you can but it's limited and it usually resets after 8 games. One other thing is all the games are default to level 8 difficulty. So you'll need to change that in the soft dip setup. As for games, Aero Fighters 3 is unplayable on the 161-in 1 but that's not a crazy expensive game on MVS. Also, Samurai Showdown II's sound seems off compared to my actual MVS cart. A couple of the hacks are worth it for unlocked players like SNK vs Capcom Chaos. It's nice really only if you have people over and want to change games, then again if it's a 4 slot you have it's probably not that big of a deal. I was pleased with the 161-in-1 cart, but some have had their carts sound die. Mine still is going strong in my MV1-FZ.

Really? I've played my way from start to finish many times on mine. Only problem that I've ever encountered was a random reset, but that can affect any of the games. I know people have reported problems with bullets and powerups not disappearing from the screen, but I don't recall that. :-k Time to play it again I guess.

I sure would like to see the inside of that stupid purple thing.

Here are some pics of the purple shitty disaster !!!

Holy crap that's a minimal design. I assume its some kind of "Linux on a chip" thing, but even then it's really simple.
-
I have a copy of 161 in 1 for my MVS cabinet and I think it is a great value. I have had no issues using it at all and it's very nice to have some games that I wouldn't have otherwise (for now). It has quite a few of the harder to find titles on it which I am thankful for. The only thing I dislike about it is the inability to change the individual game difficulties.
-
Karkilan ... Really you have no problems with your 161 in 1 cart ? On mine at least 50% of the games don't work properly .. All Cps 2 and all of the Street Fighter games which are Cps 1 run super glitchy and have terrible slow down .. Most of the Neo Geo titles run smooth enough but all have sound issues where the music crackles .. My only solution was to turn down the volume control on the actual cart to where you can barely hear the audio ..
-
lol Oops I completely mixed up the Multicart 161 in 1 with the 300 in 1 cart that I have #-o .. Never mind what I said on the last post .. 161 in 1 cart good, 300 in 1 cart shitty !! lol Goddamn JD and coke had me all mixed up for a while  .. But I'm all good now  ..

300 for an MVS cabinet sounds like a great deal to me. Congrats on your purchase.

Although MVS multi game carts aren't perfect reproductions of every game, they are a real carts full of Neo Geo roms that play on your Neo Geo hardware. Those misc hundreds-in-one boards are emulation based hardware. So the multi games MVS carts are a pretty safe bet if you know what kinds of games you're getting, while every type of emulation based arcade board will be a crap shoot.
-
Neo multicarts aren't perfect, especially for the oldest games, due to technical reasons (that the pirates either didn't understand or didn't bother to implement.) I have a pretty good 138-in-1 cart that has a few interesting quirks:

One of those quirks being the daughter board requirement? :-)
