Title: Kyuukyoku Tiger (Micro Chipper bootleg) Box Artwork
Post by: SuperPlay on February 27, 2013, 03:21:24 AM
I was reading up on the Micro Chipper bootleg of Kyuukyoku Tiger over at:

http://www.videogameden.com/pirate.htm?pce04

The article makes the following note relating to the box artwork:

"The cardboard box is also very unusual, with the same colour illustration printed on each side. However, the drawing has nothing to do with the original PC Engine title and is maybe borrowed from the arcade flyer"

Today the mystery has been solved!

I was reading through some old magazines and behold! In the arcade review section, there it was the same picture with a few words in the article regarding a Namco arcade title called: Metal Hawk

Nice sleuthing.  Couldn't the silly pirates find something from within Taito?

Great find SuperPlay !!!!

You know, you are giving my brain a well deserved rest today - this image has been haunting me for years. I remember seeing that illustration in a French magazine, and when I found the pirate, I knew I had seen it somewhere but couldn't find it at all ! Thanks for sharing this find, I'll definitively add this information to the site !

By the way, I've recently discovered that Google image search can use images as a source for a search. So I entered the illustration from my webpage and Google found the game ! I'm always amazed by this new feature...

STATUS: SUPERPLAY, comrade, I love your sleuthing! I was convinced that the pirated box art was stolen from a war toy of some sort...
