have any of you fine folks purchases or used an AC adapter from Retro Game Cave for a Turbo system? I am truing to revive my kid sisters Turbo CD system and need an AC adapter. The retro game cave adapters seem reasonably priced.
-
I've heard good things but have not used them myself since every time I need an adapter they are out of the particular one I want.
-
I've been using a Retro Game Cave AC adapter for almost a year now on my Turbo+CD setup with no issues. In fact, I'm about to buy another one for my 2nd setup. They make a great product (just wish they made them in black instead of white)
-
Good stuff, I got one for the Neo Geo and it works good, we'll made.
-
I think their pricing is somewhat high for these otherwise I would've got one already (I wanted a Duo one), but from what I read, they're the well-regulated, high-quality models that output the proper voltage (or very close to it), so they are superior to the cheap, unregulated original models that the systems come with which can go 2-3 volts higher than what is actually stated. It all works out either way because of the internal voltage regulator which drops the voltage down to the proper 5V operating range, but it means more heat is generated reducing its lifespan. In short, they should be better than the originals and better for your system.

I use one of their adapters for my IFU and it works nicely! It's very well constructed and sturdy, and also it's way better than the generic one that came with my PCE.
-
I have a few of them and think they're great. The cords are shorter than I'd like, though. All of mine are about 3 ft long, including my Express AC adapter.
-
For $18 I'm going to give it a shot. Thanks everyone for the input.
-
Yep, all of my retro systems use power supplies from them. Very good stuff!
-
Their Turbo Express AC Adapter is great since it is much more compact than the OEM power brick.

Yeah and it will be 18 we'll spent on buying a proper power supply for your machine.

I have bought several ac adapters from Retro game cave also .. Their very well made .. The only problem I have with them is that their cables are way too short IMO .. But I would recommend them to any one that is looking for a well made replacement ac adapter for their retro console

Sega Master System ac adapter 80 inches in length ..
Retro Game Cave ac adapter 43 inches in length ..
What ended up working better for my Duo-r setup is the Sega Master System's ac adapter ...
-
You can specify length of cable. Just talk to him and he'll do it for an additional charge.
Great AC adapters!
-
Nice .. Good to know .. I'm gonna have to make some special orders from Retro Game Cave ...
-
That is really good to know.
I had the same comment, was glad to get a new working Duo power supply for (imo) a reasonable cost. I really wasn't able to find a matching one for cheaper, and I'm really glad he's making these for some of the more obscure systems/setups. My only complaint is that the cable is a little short.
-
I really wasn't able to find a matching one for cheaper,
Yeah, I had trouble last time I tried eBay hunting, but all you need is to find one that says it's regulated and match up the voltage and amp rating; of course you'll have to solder on the plug from your original, assuming you have it. He doesn't have any more when it comes to Turbo Duo, so you got no choice anyway to find one elsewhere in that case, but when he did, I just didn't like the total price for it, $23 with shipping... If I could just find his supplier or whoever he's been buying from on eBay or whatever, then swapping the plug from my original would be no problem. I can get a 5V, 3A, well-regulated supply for $5 bucks retail at this science type store (I used one for my SNES after modding it to work with 5V directly), so I should be able to get a 10V, 1A, well-regulated supply needed for a Duo in the $10-$15 range via eBay, etc.

I have one of their Sega trio adapters and a JVC X'eye adapter. Both have treated me well and I have no regets about purchasing either of them.
-
Got my Turbo CD AC adapter from Retro Game Cave and it's good work. The AC Adapter is black and has a "Turbo Grafx CD" label on it. I'll likely buy one as back up for my Duo-RX.

I just picked another up for the IFU I'm getting from Blue. :)
