I just picked up a replacement model 1 Sega CD to replace my junky one. Thing is it doesn't have the plate. Does anyone have an extra one? Post or PM me an offer.
FYI-Model 1 and Model 2 plates are different. It needs to be of the Model 1 variety. :)

I'm certain BlueBMW has one with screw. See if he would part with it.
-
Thanks Bernie! I PM'd him.

How are they different? I've owned a model 2 before, but its been a while. Never owned a model 1 CD.

Their shapes are different to accommodate the different undersides of the Genesis 1 and 2.

The plate that came with my new Model 2 CD worked with both systems. There was an extra piece of thin metal that came with the unit that clipped to the vent of the original Genny to extend the shield since the system is a bit wider. It screwed in like normal though. Can't see why it wouldn't work in reverse, unless the mounting slots on the two CD units are different. I have a plate and screw that came attached to a early model Genny I bought for next to nothing not long ago, not sure which CD system it's for though, that's why I asked.

The model 1 plate is more square shaped.

Yeah but will a Model 2 plate fit on a Model 1 Genesis w/ Model 1 CD unit?

Nope. The Underside's Locking Tabs won't line up properly, and there are no holes under the CD's EXT Connector, so the two prongs that stick out of the Metal Plate, will hit up against plastic.
Here are the combos that'll work:
A) Model 1 Genesis + Model 1 Plate + Model 1 CD.
B) Model 2 Genesis + Model 1 Plate + Model 1 CD.
C) Model 1 Genesis + Model 2 Plate + Model 2 CD.
D) Model 2 Genesis + Model 2 Plate + Model 2 CD.
~ Notes about Combo A ~
You need to remove the 4 Rubber Feet, and the one Rubber Circle, on the bottom of the Model 2 Genesis, before attaching a Model 1 Metal Plate.
Also, there's no need to use the metal snap-on bracket for the EXT Port, on any Genesis that you connect to the Model 1 CD.
That bracket is only for when you are using the Model 2 CD.
However, the thing that snaps in to the Vent Holes, on the Underside of either Genesis, will need to be used with both CDs.

I'd offer you mine, but I only have one.
I need it for reverse-engineering.
Sometimes they pop up on eBay, that's where I got mine...
Actually, I just checked, and you can snag one, with a plate and screws, for about 20 bucks.

Unless someone here can offer ya a better deal, or a good trade. :P
