Title: N64 Group Buy - deposits in
Post by: Duo_R on April 10, 2013, 08:13:23 PM
Order pending PM asap if I am missing your name - see latest post

http://shop.retrogate.com/EverDrive-64-v2-ED64.htm

Update 4/21:

ok I had so many options available I wanted to streamline it into 3 main options that everyone can choose from:

Core Package $80+shipping
just the Everdrive PCB. Your a modder, you got the time, no problem! You will need to get a game with the proper CIC chip, for US you will want CIC-6102. I got mine from NFL Quarterback 98 & 99. There are lists on the internet or send me an email (I have an excel spreadsheet with CIC list for every region.

Note - we are getting V2 boards, this photo is just so you know this is just the bare PCB, that's it
(http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/7530/nn04h.jpg)

Basic Package - $92 + shipping (note this is with a printed label, without it's 89 as I previously quoted)

Your not comfortable desoldering chips and resoldering, or your dremel work will be sketchy...no problem, this one is for you (or your just cramped for time). Includes:

* Required CIC chip installed (note I only have access to NTSC US games, so if you need elsewhere shoot me a PM)
* Dremel work for SD slot (I can show you later an Everdrive MD I did, very clean)
* Label - again this is optional for this package, remove $3 if you don't want a label
* Gray cart used - from the donor CIC game

Deluxe Package - $101 +  shipping

You eye-balled the deluxe packages elsewhere but never liked that over the top deluxe price....this option is for you. You get all the work done, a label, a case with insert, and a simple instruction card.

You get:

* Everything from the basic package
* Universal Game Case
* Glossy insert for the game case
* Simple instruction card for your Everdrive
* Label for the cart

Pick your package - send over 50% deposit of the selected package to my paypal (send me a PM). I will notify when the Everdrive arrive and work is finished. 2nd payment is due before they ship out to you.

Please send payment as a gift or add a few bucks to cover fees. I am not doing this to make $$$ more of a service for those that need help installing or want to get a deal on the PCB. And like you want to get a discount on an Everdrive. If this works out well you can expect me to possibly organize more of these.

Also - Everdrives require SD cards - these are easily available so not going to setup options to buy. Just an idea I just bought an 8GB on ebay for $6, just make sure the seller is selling you a genuine card since those work better than the fakes / copies

Bump could be false hope but I bought 6 cartridges that can be donors for chip / casing for an Everdrive. Sign up if interested I am going to ping the other forums, once we get to 10 gonna place the order. Cant wait to get this for my RGB modded N64 (and with my component converter).

Single Everdrive Cost
   CIC Chip   $15
   Shell   $15
   Everdrive   $99.99
      $129.99
+ shipping from overseas (for 1 unit shipping was $5 on my test order)
$135 approx with the CIC / Shell, about $105 + without

Groupbuy Cost:
   Everdrive    $80
Ship cost / delivery $4 (estimate, you pay exact USPS shipping fees)
   Estimate:   $84

OPTIONAL: CIC / Shell / Install - $7

Approx $91 with the CIC installed and shell

This cart requires a CIC chip for your region, Retrogate charges $15 for the chip and another $15 for the shell (pretty pricey). I have some NTSC CIC chips and shells that I got from games that came with the needed CIC chip. I have included install cost above but that is totally optional, if you have your own game (make sure it has the right chip) then you can take off $7 from the cost. I am just passing on the couple bucks that I bought them for and doing $5 for the install (I desolder and resolder for you).

Also - the delivery cost is just an estimate, you pay actual shipping to your house + the shared group ship cost. I need to get an estimate so this may go up or down slightly. Overall you can see you get a pretty good deal on the Everdrive.

UPDATE: The group ship cost is only $5 according to my test order

This is just an estimate to give everyone an idea, don't forget the CIC chip and a shell is required.

Post by: Duo_R on April 15, 2013, 03:44:26 PM
also if you PM me your address I can get you estimate of the shipping cost to your house, then we can assume a few extra bucks for the overseas shared cost.
Title: Re: interest check: N64 everdrive group buy
Post by: Duo_R on April 15, 2013, 04:40:09 PM
UPDATE: Just did a test order, the delivery overseas is only $5 for the entire order, if that is the case the actual shipping costs will drop, again PM me for estimate to your door.

Post by: Duo_R on April 16, 2013, 02:03:37 PM
Ok got an email from the retrogate people. $805 is the quote for 10 units shipped to my house. Then just USPS shiooing to your house if you dont need CIC and case.  I got 1 PM requesting actual shipping charges I wont be back home until late tomorrow so I can send estimates on Thur. You guys in?

If this for pretty much any other retro console, I'd be in, but alas my N64 was stolen (out of my car no less!).  Good luck on the group buy, though.  I bet you'll have no trouble filling orders.

Post by: Duo_R on April 17, 2013, 08:04:23 PM
Yes i want to get more everdrive units for other systems we just cant mix and match on these orders for the discount. These units are fantastic i will probably do the NES version next (US).

Quick question - if i get paypal gifted $705+ within a week will paypal trip out? I am not doing this to make cash so want to make sure i dont get hit with a ton of fees.

Post by: Duo_R on April 18, 2013, 04:04:24 AM
We are getting really close to possibly ordering since i have at least 3 people interested on digitpress! Also i am working with someone that says they can professionally print a custom Everdrive 64 labels if there is interest in that. I will also email Sparky and see if maybe he could help us with that since his spine labels are top notch and would look nice to have these look professional.

Can everyone who is interested send me a PM with your email and your zip code so i can start estimating shipping. Also i will post order options today so i know how many shells / chips i am going to get.

Is there anyone that will want to order just the bare PCB?

I believe I used NFL Quarterback Club 98, I can check. I have a list that shows the chips of every game released so you can use that if you want to find your own, I will link it later.

On another topic....does this look of any interest to anyone    :D

Yes sir designed for UGC. Threw it together today. I am also checking around for printing of a matching cart label. Anyone have a good source for laminated labels for cart repros?

Ok I got PMs from the following:

Turboswims (down payment received)
Bartre (down payment received)
SMF (down payment received)
Deletion (down payment received)
BlueBMW (down payment received)
TheClash603 - payment received
Black Tiger - payment received
JeffG - digitpress (down payment received)
Coleconut - digitpress (down payment received)
Whisper2053 (payment received)
Ianoid - digitpress (down Payment received)
Greg2600 - digitpress (payment received)

Shipping quotes sent.

Also I believe the following are interested:

Whisper2053 (please confirm)

I got at least 3 on digitpress who are in so we got enough for a group order!!!

For now I am asking just 50% down payment on the PCB - so $40. I will order and the remaining balance and whatever options you want to add will be due prior to shipping. Please send this as soon as you can so we don't have someone holding up the order.

Please send PM for PayPal email and send as PayPal gift payment or add a few bucks for fees. The everdrives are supposed to restock soon and we will get the next batch! We're getting close!

Also I will update cost on the labels and cases if anyone is interested in that. I printed the blue version today and it looked awesome! I believe I should have enough game cases for at least 8-10 units. More to come on that.

Thanks guys!

k down payments coming in and officially we got room for one more! Shoot me a PM if interested.

I did a test on the cart label, turned out pretty nice. Ok need to know how many are interested in the case and label. I will PM for cost estimate next week. I am out of universal game cases so will need to place a bulk order.

Here is ballpark - $12 for case, custom designed insert, instruction card and cart label. You will have a professional looking everdrive and the design wont be posted on the internet. Cost is for bulk ordering of cases since I am out, design and printing of the insert and professional label. I will also stand behind the label if it peels I will issue a replacement for a period of 1 yr, but if it happens after that just shoot me a PM.

If you compare this to the Stoneage deluxe editions this is an incredible value. Please let me know which option you are interested in.

If not enough want the full package then I will just work on a cart label - estimate 3 for that - should get exact amount this week.

Can you point me to the type of dye you used?

Looks very nice.  How durable and scratch resistant is the finish?
Title: Re: N64 Group Buy - deposits in
Post by: Duo_R on April 28, 2013, 08:10:00 AM
Since its more a dye process it doesnt flake off. I scraped an area inside a cart it doesnt come off by scratching.

Deletion I used a Vinyl dye by duplicolor a process I have used for restoring interior auto parts. Very durable.

Ok, it looks like my guy downstairs had his ebay order for one of these fall through. The seller was making some shady/shifty excuses for stuff, and John wound up just getting a refund. That being said, if there is room still, we definitely want to grab one of these for him!

Edit: Correction on that. I had him look at this thread and he very much wants to grab one of the super-deluxe-blasto-matic versions, and is ready to shoot the funds to my paypal. If there's still room in this rodeo, I just want to double check/verify the shipping since we're at an Army APO in Germany.

Also heard from Krikkz today says should restock next week. Cross your fingers!

hey guys we got 13 total orders in, if anyone wants to add in still possible just asking for 100% down since the order is getting larger than I originally anticipated, and more fair to those that pre-ordered earlier. Should restock next week. Also - FYI I am going to move forward with NES N8 Everdrive, see my other thread.

FYI it took about a month for me to get my Super Everdrive from the Ukraine a while back. I wish I had been paying attention, I would have jumped in on this :D

Lol ok thanks man, how do you like the Super ED?

It's freaking awesome, easily my favorite of the various flash carts I own. It's a little slow at loading a new game, but once it has a game in memory it stays there even after you power it off, so that's a good trade IMO. Also, the UI is basic but straightforward without any random issues I've had with other flash carts.

I have been tryin to determine if I should get an SD2Snes or the Super ED. Did you add DSP1 chip to yours?

No, I'm not even sure if my older model supports that. The only games I would use DSP for is Pilotwings and Mario Kart anyway, and I own Mario Kart.

I've never really found it out in the wild at a decent price. I do plan on grabbing it someday!

I think all the new ones Krikzz makes have DSP-1 installed.  If cash is no obstacle I would get the SD2SNES, when they're available. But the Super ED is sufficient for most gamers.  I agree that the load times are annoying.

From what I gather from Krikkz's page, aside from region, there isn't a difference in the CIC chip in one game to the next? I may be interested in a N64 ED later on and can do the soldering and such myself. If I picked up a $1.00 sport title, I can use the CIC in an ED? It'll be good to know for next time I spot one in the wild and pick it up for future use.

No there are different CICs I think it was posted earlier - there are entire lists on the Internet.

Units arrived safe and sound. Installed the CIC chips in every unit. Booted up the first board, this thing works like a champ. Has the nicest user interface of all the Everdrives I have tried so far.

Lookin' good, Duo_R.

A question I've been wondering about... Does the speed of the SD card affect how fast the ROM loads into memory?
