Hey all! Pulled in a bit of extra cash, and was wanting to see if anyone had a copy of MKR US that they would part with. No real idea of what it's going for these days, but feel free to shoot me a price! Nothing can hurt!
-
I wish you luck in your search, eBay prices for US copies are insane. I gave up a while ago.
-
I think I have a loose, semi beat up one you can have on the cheeps.
-
It's a great game, but not quite worth the insane prices it's going for on eBay. If you just want to play it I would definitely go the loose disc purchase (or *ahem* ISO) route.
Looking through recent eBay completed listings, you're looking at about $60 - $100 for a loose disc. Yowza.
(I thank my lucky stars every day that I bought it new, sealed on clearance at EB Games for $15 back in the day, heh)
-
Holy shit, loose for 60?
yeah, no way I am charging 60$, lol
I know the copy works, because I played through this disc when I got it back in 1999, used, at Funco Land, for 35$
It's in the same condition I got it in, and it's been sitting in a case ever since I finished it.
If you have anything to trade, I would do that too.
-
f*ck, really?
a coworker of mine sold me this and a few other saturn games for $75, and he said he felt kinda bad charging that.
it's a really good game, but i think i'd top out at $75 for that one, complete.
-
Yeah, It's going crazy on evilbay these days. I would definitely be interested in a loosie, Ark, but not sure what trades you were looking for. Anything in particular? And if you wanna just sell it, I can do that too. Thanks!
-
I dunno. Got any Dreamcast or Playstation games?
I need to make sure I still have it. For some reason I think someone else here might have taken it from me like a year ago. If that's the case:

If things fall thru with Tsuran, I'd be interested in the loosey Magick Nyte RayEarth too. Could pull some trades.
Lemme know.
-
I am currently away for an internship, but will be back home at the end of the week. I do have dc and Ps games, but not sure exactly of my inventory till then. Any specifics you're looking for? I don't have anything dazzling, but some ok stuff.
-
I don't know off hand. Lemme know when you're back. I could use a copy of Battle Arena TOSHINDEN!
-
kk, no prob
-
Sorry. I'm a huge douchebag and apparently sold it already. I Just have the goofy case I made for it, and thought the disc was still inside.
:(
-
ah, alright then. Thanks anyway man! So still looking!
-
I picked MKR up in a game store not long ago for $80 complete. It looked brand new and unplayed. These prices are ridiculous! Makes me sad.
-
Oh man, that was a good find! Yeah, I wanted to pick it up like two years ago, when the prices were "more reasonable", but my wallet wouldn't allow it.
-
yeah I ended up getting it from Arkhan a year ago. :P
and yes i still read the forums :P
I really hope tsuran ends up finding a copy on the cheap
-
MKR is another Saturn game that went up in price the last 1-2 years. 140-250 complete? Talk about varied prices.
-
Although it is kinda pricey, the reason the game sometimes goes for more is because of the disc art variants and the fact that it came with stickers, a mail away card and possibly more (flyer?). But if you look at completed eBay prices, it often sells completely complete (mint including stickers)for $100 (not disc-only). Judging by the sold prices, collectors seem to value a fully complete copy at $140.
If you only want the box, manual and game disc (and don't care which disc art), you should be able to get it on eBay for under $100.
-
Yeah, I sold mine here for $85 in mint/complete condition. Any more than that and you're getting gouged. Now my copy had Fuu on the cd. Not sure which character on the disc is worth more, but my $85 price is average. Loose copy should be like $30 at the most.
-
I remember when NCS had a "sale of the day" with this game. They had a case of them for, I think, $40 each. I passed because I really don't care much for it or WD's localizations. I think that's all it cost new, IIRC.
Question: where the hell were all these hardcore f*cks when the game sat on shelves unloved for YEARS? If they were in diapers back then, then how did they become so hardcore about it years after its release? Are these people Saturn fans or just WD loyalists?
Noobs...

Oh, so you're who I sold it to!
Well, now I know where it went, lol.
Zeta, most of these people are just WD loyalists.
I've talked to at least 30 people who have played MKR and were unaware that it's a manga/anime.
That made me want to punch them a lot.
-
Really? How can one play a MKR game and NOT know of Gainax? :-k This confounds me.
-
just make sure you have a way to backup your saves. Otherwise the *ahem* route is more reliable
-

What does Gainax have to do with MKR?
-
I can confirm this game was $50 new by me, not $40 like Zeta said.
I think the generation that grew up being fed PSX propaganda is finally starting to appreciate the "other" system that was out. that is why this stuff is "rare" all of a sudden, because people are sick of playing games like Crash Bandicoot which did not age well at all.
-
Yeah, I happened to have both when I was a kid, but since it was just a little after all the games for saturn left the shelves, Unfortunately, I had to make due with just a bunch of the more common virtua fighter/ racing games. I loved it, and it always seemed a little more special to me than playstation. That might be why I'm collecting for it now.

Derp. I meant Clamp. What I get for posting so early in the morning.

I'll back this up, $50 is what I bought my copy for back in the day, and wound up never opening it since I had a modchip. I wonder if it still has the little price sticker on it...
-
I bought the WD version of MKR new at EB bitd for full retail price ($70 Canadian?).
-
Electronic Boutique sold it for 50.00 at release. Working Designs site wanted 64.99 for it, Ouch!
Added in edit: Just a quick note. It appears Zeta was referring to a "Sale of the Day at NCS" rather than what it sold for in retail stores at release.
-
I also got mine brand new at Electronics Boutique for $50.
-
I liked MKR, but the ending was really morbid and it just kind of ended. That was the only thing I didn't like about it. The 2D shooter elements at the end was interesting

The ending was awesome.
the shooter threw me off, considering I was half alert/asleep while finishing it, slouched sideways in a recliner, and suddenly its like PEW PEW YOU'RE PLAYING BLAZING LAZERS NOW. WAKE THE f*ck UP!
I got all the gems in the game, and the outtakes are hilarious.
The one, he's like
"My urine. It burns when I pee."
I laughed at that for hours because I'm an immature assclown
