Title: Recent mods to my NES
Post by: Duo_R on June 19, 2013, 02:22:24 PM

Some snaps of a work in progress of my NES

Fami Disc expansion sound mod
Stereo mod - with dual pot adjustments
Reset port - used with custom NES advantage (has reset button)
Blue LED

The reset mod is nice to use with Everdrive. The turbobs spoiled me with the soft reset from the controller. Now I have a button on the NES advantage that can reset the system and I don't have to leave the couch. :)

no idea, it says it's designed for top loader, I assume I could also use it on the front loader.

I would think yes it would with modification.

ok some feedback on the paint scheme? So the paint I bought for the top "grill" was a gold / chrome looking color. It actually just turned out chrome (did not match the cap at all). I am not also happy with the paint quality for that so going to try a different brand. Also the bottom half will also be painted, so the final scheme will be:

Black / Gold (top) and bottom will be a darker charcoal color.

If it is the same project I read about a while back the goal was to have one PPU that worked in NES, Famicom, and Playchoice boards with correct RGB values.

I'm pretty stoked.

In my opinion black just doesn't fit the NES. I would prefer white and red to match the Famicom. Or if you want to go all out make it all gold with the Triforce window and a few touches in green.

Great job with the mod btw

I'd love to mod my Nintoaster model with RGB out and the sound mod.

Looks awesome.  I think the black will go really well with a gold or champagne color.  I love that folks aren't afraid to mess with their "sacred" consoles.  I painted my SNES really gaudy colors just so I'd never have any desire to sell it.  :)

Yeah this one was heavily yellowed I could have retrobright but went a different direction.  I chose black because it fits better in my entertainment center

Yes his paint jobs rock. Well if I ever get a white and red entertainment center I may paint it like that. :) serious note if I ever get a 2nd NES I will provably do that.

Dogbone with the tiny reset button. Its small enough and placed that you wont hit it by accident.
