It's as easy as changing rosters and putting generic faces to the new (and few) added players.

no FIFA games after this one are required

Some kids can barely afford a PS2 and the game will still be fun for them. I don't know why you are rolling your eyes about it like some stuck-up dick bag.

I just bought a newer release PS2 @ five below. Why not? :D

If games games continue to come out for a system, they will continue to sell. It's different for something like the Genesis which was massively successful but had no new games for long enough to be abandoned by most people. PS2 hardware and games are still common and the next generation didn't offer anything new and improved (motion controls = poorer gameplay). They shouldn't be pushing the PS4 and Xbox One until another 5 - 10 years. The Wii is a repackaged Gamecube and games are still coming out for it.

The rolling eyes was for it not being on Wii U.

It's not just FIFA 14. EA is not developing any games for the Wii U citing poor sales of the games they did release, as well as, the console itself.

the only good games EA have the rights to were originally published by other companies eg: maxis and westwood

Ahh...
Well, WiiU playes Wii games so...in a way they are.
I enjoy FIFA games. IMO they are pretty good. FIFA for iPhone is actually playable, which, considering its an iPhone game, is miraculous in itself.
Konami's soccer games are good too but frankly I'm not enough of a fan to be able to state much of a preference.
When EA was making F1 games they were pretty decent too, but EA's insistence on releasing games for the current season, therefore meaning that development is done before the season even begins, always meant the data was way off. There is no better example of this than the box for F1 2000 which shows a Jaguar right behind a Ferrari. This was so far from every happening during the actual season its pure fantasy. Now that Codemasters is making the F1 games they are a better, I have to admit.

I know which version I'm getting
