Hi, I noticed a lot of people were enjoying reading the scans of egm that talked about the turbografx, so I though I would scan some of the articles I had from my egm collection. This is just a small amount of the turbografx ads and articles I have, but I only wanted to scan a few per night. Anyways, I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did!
All the pictures here are from egm issue #16 (November 1990)

Let me know if you want to see more. Thanks!

BOSS! Shoot the Jet in the end of Last Alert's first chapter with a flamethrower!
Why do I have the feeling that they only had a couple of screenshots and a small description in japanese to work with?

Haha yeah early egm was great, the goofyness and layout just screams early 90's game magazine, and is why I love reading them :)

Man, this is the first time I've seen these ads. Thanks for posting.

No problem. I have plenty more I can scan, I just want to do a few at a time though.

Wasn't Legendary Axe the game of the year back in like 90? I recall really wanting to play it back then.
-
very cool, thank you so much for scanning these.

Actually it was game of the year back in '89.

These are great. I've recently started collecting old print ads for classic consoles myself. Some of them were true works of art!
-
That Tricky Kick ad is just horrible. CYBERCORE SINISTRON like it's one game and no description or screen shots, just a grey perspective grid and splashes of pink. ](*,)
-
Very cool! Always glad to see more of these. Any chance you could also post them in this thread:

Just to keep all the ads in one spot?

I woul love to include your scans.
If possible, I like them 1300 pixels wide and high quality like this:
http://archives.tg-16.com/VGCE/VGCE_1993_03_041.jpg
I have this stuff from a long time ago:
http://www.tg-16.com/new_turbografx_magazine_scans.htm
Plus a harddrive with tons of scans.
MY PROBLEM IS MOTIVATION. MAYBE THIS SUMMER (right now) I'LL START UPDATING AGAIN.
I'll tell you why I'm frustrated: with all the new "retina/high def" screens coming out, I don't know what standards I should use for dimensions/resolution of final .jpg
It sounds trivial, but I want to future-proof it (for at least a few years)...the old scans (TurboPlay) are utter shite now (granted its over 9+ years ago?)
Blah blah blah (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

More scans for everyone!
These are all from issue #6 of egm from January 1990
Unfortunately some water damage ruined the front cover,

The inside pages are alright though

Some turbografx game previews and one ad

Kinda odd ad campaign as far as art direction but still neat

And for fun an atari 7800 ad because, well, how many of those do you see, especially this late in it's lifespan?
(http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll246/eviljoebob/turbografx ads/img023.jpg) (http://s290.photobucket.com/user/eviljoebob/media/turbografx ads/img023.jpg.html)

I don't know how to combine 2 page ads, sorry.
I tried to up the scan quality this time. Enjoy!

Thanks for the scans. It is always interesting to see and read retro articles about out favorite systems.

First time I ever heard of PC-Engine was in Video Games & Computer Entertainment.
I believe this was VG&CE's first PCE article - April, 1989.

These aren't scans, they're photos I took some years ago, so sorry for the small size and poor quality.
I just use the slider on the Opera browser to make them readable.
-
I am pretty certain I scanned these. I will start posting my magazine archive in the next week or two (after I finish up 2-3 other projects, first).
-
Este I have some VG&CE articles that aren't on your site. What is the best way to get these to you?

If you are interested in a magazine index, I started a project a while back to catalogue:
C+VG (UK)
Duo World (US)
EGM (US)
Turbo Force (US)
Turbo Play (US)
I also intended to include the Japanese magazines that I have.
The project has not been updated in a long time and is in Excel Format. I must allocate some of my time to update this and convert it over to Google docs.

VG&CE is my all time favorite gaming mag. I'll have to check to see which ones I have and get off my tartuffe to scan some if I have any worthwhile....
-
Man I love reading old gaming mags. Ah, the days when those mags were the only source for info. Love the poor spellings too like "Y's" and "J.B. Harrold." Really, did J.B. Harrold look right to them?
Thanks for scanning... keep em coming!

Thanks for the scans, I really enjoy reading them. :P
