Title: PC Engine games in 3DS cases
Post by: Duo_R on July 09, 2013, 10:12:56 PM
Ok here it goes. I tried out that new Turbografx template with the 8 disc DVD CASES. I wanted to try something different for PCE. After some different ideas I tried 3DS cases. Turns out these fit in perfect with my collection no modding the case for hucards, holds instruction card or just the game no problem.

Note:
The PC Engine template was created based off original PCE designs with some modifications. The TG16 template was used from Phase (EktoPhase's) fantastic 8 Poly design - just applied to the 3DS template:

And the size better matches jewel cases. See for yourself. Between 3DS, DS cases and the 8 disc DVD case, the 3DS case is the thinnest.

That's actually flipping cool.  Well done!

I think I'll stick to jewel cases myself, but this is definitely a Good Thing.

That looks pretty neat. How did you get the inserts to fit? Did you need to re-print the CD-Jewel case inserts again to account for the thicker width of the Nintendo case?

These are for my loosies so I reprinted / formatted in photoshop.

I have a template now so if I have the scan some resizing and just print.

Are empty 3DS cases easy to find?

Looks nice, Duo_R.

Are empty 3DS cases easy to find?

Get 'em from Nintendo for $1 each or 5 for $4 or on Amazon in 5, 10, 25, or 50 packs.

Link to the Amazon cases? Yeah they are pretty cheap.

Also hard to tell from the photos but on the front cover I put some verticals lines on that area that looks white to simulate the ridges on the jewel cases. In on of the photos you can kinda see it.

I will release these covers as I make them.

I am also in need of some more scans:

linky (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5J8EIU/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0HKRXACZGN1H2TRWV1TY&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846) (same seller has the smaller bundles)

The pics make 'em look awfully yellow, but maybe it's just the lighting.  I'd try to check before buying.

If anyone has a source on the black 3DS cases let me know I would use those for the TG games

Awesome!

That is a really nice touch emulating the ridges of the CD case.

I'd be all over these if I hadn't recently picked up a bulk order of new CD cases.

(P.S. - if anyone wants some new CD cases, shoot me a PM)

A TG16 Neutopia 2 with the Japanese art is coming next

Neutopia 2. I used the 8 Disk Poly template but resized for 3DS. Cover was customized for TG16.

By the way Videogameden and PC Engine Bible have been huge resources for my screenshots and custom covers!

Ok here is the TG16 Neutopia with JP art. Imagine if TTI didnt try to reinvent the wheel. ...

I kinda dig Neutopia 1 art US over the JP one anyone else agree? 2 hands down rhe JP one is better like most of the covers.

Even tho the US cover had nothing to do with the game lol

I'm not into custom cases, but this would be a great alternative for people who can't bring themselves to put the Turbo Everdrive in a HuCard case.

Do you have blank/base psd or AI, hell even a PNG file of the template you are using? would love to have it ;)

Got several loose games I'd love to make a case for.
