Title: TE Batteries and AC Adapter - May be a stupid question.
Post by: MotherGunner on July 15, 2013, 10:28:27 AM
Hey Guys, do any of you happen to know if a. you can use an AC adapter on a TE while the batteries are inserted and b. do the batteries continue to drain?

I ask because I have always made it a habit to do one or the other as I don't recall it being specified in the manual.

Yes, you can leave the batteries in. I used to do it all the time. Don't know if they drain, though it never seemed like it. Just don't pop the ac in or out in the middle of a game :)

So it doesn't do an easy transition if you do that? (From AC to Battery Power)?

Yep, the battery's negative connection unhooks once a ac adapter is plugged into the dc jack. I just worked on a TE where it didn't work with batteries because of a bad dc jack.

If you plug in the ac adapter into the TE's dc jack while it's powered on with batteries, you essential restarting it because of the switch to ac.

Hmm I wonder how hard it would be to have it charge the batteries while plugged in? Rechargeable batteries mind you...
