I know that this is old news now, but how lame is EGM's April Fool's gimmick in this day and age, with the internet and all, where 99% of the mag's contents were on the web a month or more earlier, that they actually think they might fool someone, anyone, with the exclusive on IPod's new portable game machine.
I haven't looked it up to see if its true or anything, its just common sense.
They only reason they fooled anyone the first time with Sheng Long is because of how limited news coverage was back then and because the average reader actually trusted them.
I can't wait for next years exclusive on Halo 4 for PS3.

I thought the Lord of the Rings Kart Racing one a couple years ago was pretty funny, the pic they did of Gandalf power-sliding a corner in a medieval go kart was hilarious.

Exactly, at least that was a joke.

I was actually reading about a new Microsoft project to enter the handheld market. They have some folks from the 360 team heading it, and it is something that MS was interested in doing for a few years -- but only recently the project became viable.
Unless this is an April Fool's joke, I was totally amused: MS is trying to create another PSP ...
I don't read the gaming sites, so this is probably old news. I just found out about it a day or three ago, however :)

My favorite April Fools Joke in gaming:
>Back in 2002, Shoryuken.com members were outraged when they fell for the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 gag. People fell into sobering respect for Photoshop after that. There was a picture of a battle that had the following characters, they did the screens and character editing so well that people thought it was real!
-Thor (Marvel comix)
-Ghost Rider (Marvel comix)
-Sagat (Street Fighter)
-Zero (in his original Megaman X form)
-Dante (Devil may cry)

Oh yeah! That pic was badass! I was told it was a fake when I saw it, but damn, it did look good!

-Ghost Rider (Marvel comix)
Damn I wish that were true.

Perhaps in the future it'll inspire Capcom the way that the Sheng Long gag did and it will become another self-fufilling prophecy.

Never gonna happen. After all, Capcom no longer has the Marvel license.

I guess that this is supposed to be 1UP.com's exclusive April Fool's joke:
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3149248
Maybe they made it so lame to throw people off of the Ipod-boy, which just so happens to have a different layout on 1up.com than any other news story and doesn't allow feedback/comments.

I knew those scumbags would get shutdown sooner or later.
Its about time someone thought about the children!

I used to do a fanzine which had a joke screenshot of a combines Tekken-Virtua Fighter game.
Oddly enough, a couple of months after I sent this mag to Computer & Video Games, they printed something extremely similar as a joke.

Too bad Working Designs' site isn't up for April Fool's Day this year :( .

It's too bad things went down the way they did. But it's like they said, not everyone has the same cultural references. Also, people in Ohio are nuts, and that's a good lesson for these kids to learn at a young age.
-
Haha, that's so awesome!
-
What a bunch of blazing f*cktards, who the hell doesn't recognize mario blocks? I mean it's only been part of pop culture for what, about 20 years now? Those girls should have just kept their mouths shut and let the cops make total asses of themselves, it sucks they might get in trouble over something so trivial.

"If you're supporting the Mario Brothers, you're supporting terrorism." -- George Bush addressing attendees at 2002 E3 conference. I should point out that people cheered loudly upon hearing this. I don't know if Bush would get the same reaction today, though.
