Title: WTB/TF: Blackthorne 32x
Post by: Arkhan on July 25, 2013, 11:53:57 PM
I'm not paying 80 f*cking dollars for it.

I was thinking maybe 50$.

Why is it 80+ on eBay and Amazon.   What paint are they huffing now.

Haven't you heard? Video games are the next big investment. People are starting to sell off their soon to be worthless gold, silver, and platinum and buying up video games. Causing prices to skyrocket through the roof!

For real though.  I went to check & see how much a copy of Metal Warriors on the SNES was going for, and the cheapest BIN is $175 with a ratty label.

It's sucked for a long time, but now it's getting really f*cking ridiculous.

Anyway, best of luck on your search for Blackthorne.  Looks fun, but alas, I've not the money nor the interest to shell out for a copy.

Yeah I saw that too.   Someone went full-retard with prices.

Haven't you heard?  Anytime a game sells for say, $50, the next one HAS to be worth $70.

That made me sad :(

As a baseline, I bought my complete copy for about $50 maybe 2 years ago off fleabay.  Unfortunately I don't have any extra copies of that.

Blackthorne for the 32X has been expensive for a while now. I have it for both the SNES and 32x... and it sucks for both systems. Good luck finding a copy. It shouldn't be too hard since you aren't looking for a CIB copy.

Well if it sucks, why not get rid of it?

I owned the SNES version and I thought it was great. What about it sucks so bad? Game is a bit slow paced, but thats how its designed.

Also played the DOS version, which is definitely better though.

The pace of it bothered me the most. I foolishly was expecting more of a contra-like experience. I had a rude awakening when I popped that cart into my SNES. I'll give it another shot though.

So, you thought it sucked because it wasn't like Contra, which it wasn't designed to be like?

errrrrr....

Yeah, you should give it another shot.  Or, you should just sell it to me.

Ummm... I said my expectations was a game similar to Contra (Which was solely based upon it's cover art :p). The lack of living up to my expectations was not my problem with it though. As I stated before, it's slow pace equivalent to a snail in combination with the awkward controls made me come to the conclusion that it sucked.

Also I would suggest picking up the SNES version. The 32x version may be a lot more pleasing on the eye but not worth the $90 price tag. Plus you can find the SNES copy for $12-15.

It plays exactly like other similar games (Prince of Persia, Flashback, Out of this World).  It does an excellent job.

I don't want to buy the SNES one that I already have.

Since it's not worth the 90$ price tag, how about you sell me it for like, 40$.

lol Are you going to sell him your copy? Because I'm not selling him mine. As much as I dislike the game, I am at the same time going for a complete 32x collection.

lol.

Complete collection of 32X is like having every Super Grafx game.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll find someone who hates the game AND doesn't mind selling it because it's just taking up space.

Lol, this thread made me look at prices on some of the 32X turds.  I can't believe someone spent like $80 on T-MEK as well.

Looks like most 32x games are still sub $20 at least, including the super awesome Space Harrier 32x!

That's a pretty good deal. I don't think you'll find anything much better than that.

I love thee style of games such as Flashback, Out of this World, Heart of Darkness.  I forbid my loose copy of Blackthorn for 99 Cents in a bargain bin at a Pawn shop.  I like it but not worth $50.

I saw one go for 30$ loose, and forgot to bid on it.

You should just sell yours to someone who will appreciate it.

Screw that. Games aren't meant to be appreciated. They were made to be hoarded! Hence the term El Hoardo...

Sarcasm aside though... since your thread I actually been playing it. It's actually not that bad of a game. I still wish it had more traditional controls though. I understand them more so now but they really slow down the pace of the game.

The pace is supposed to be slow.   It's not a straight up action game.
