Title: ROFFLE MADNESS (RAFFTARIS)
Post by: _joshuaTurbo on July 30, 2013, 08:50:29 AM
I'm raffling off a copy of Nectaris.  This game is in pretty great shape with Jewel case, HuCard, Instructions and protective slip over the Huey!!

Genesis - Herzog Zwei - Easy to jump into, takes a decent time to master. REALLY FUN with 2 player. After that it would be Dune for the PC.

Aww, does it have to be a console game???

If not, then I say Master of Orion for PC... I never get bored of playing that game...

Oh, and do not enter me... Military Madness is the same game but with fark cover art yes?

By Dune, do you mean Dune 2?  There was Dune Battle for Arrakis for Genesis.... kind of watered down dune 2 but awesome none the less..

Dune 2, didn't know there was a Genesis version though.

I do have to say, Advace Wars on the GBA is pretty fun, I haven't tried #2.

I had a good time with Ogre Battle and FF Tactics, but I like the speed of Herzog and Nectaris better. I have to be into a micromanaging mood to get into O Bttl and FF Tactics.

Personally my favorite would be Dragon Force on Saturn!

I don't think I qualify, but I want to share my favourite console SRPG anyway :P

I know a lot of people haven't played them or think them to be weird, but I absolutely adore the Sakura Taisen series on the Saturn, Dreamcast, and PS2/Wii. My favourite is probably Sakura Taisen 2 on the Saturn. The games are super easy, but I love the steam powered mechs and just the whole 90s' anime vibe I get from it.

Tactics Ogre (I played it on SFC and Saturn) and Shining Force III have to be my other favourites.

Oh maaaaaan Shining Force II is pretty fantastic if we're talking strategy war game, because it did so much great stuff that people still can't get right. but when it comes to Tactics (which is basically the same genre, but hey) I really like Jeanne D'arc, because it was super smooth, and takes a lot of the dumb guesswork out of things like crafting, while also streamlining the battle process by giving your super powered units extra turns (without making it too easy).

But Military Madness was actually my first tactics game ever. I don't have the JP version, so if someone has neither, they should win instead of me certainly. But this was a special game for me, because it got my dad into video games. The turbo was the first console he really started to enjoy on its own terms, though he bought me an Atari 2600 when I was younger. I would go to play something, and find suddenly that he was on the last map, which I hadn't even gotten to yet!

He even played through as the Axis using a cheat code I discovered (since he liked it so much), but said it wasn't as fun, since it was too heavily weighted one way or the other...

Anyway! Military Madness is one of my favorites in this genre, and I actually like it better than Famicom Wars, which it's essentially based on!!

the end :3

Ya gotta love Galactic Civilizations 2 for sheer win factor. If limited to consoles, I have to echo another vote for Saturn Dragon Force as awesomely brilliant.

Oh yeah, and add me please :)

The best arcade-action-strategy-war-puzzle game is clearly: Rampart (Atari). Oh? That doesn't count in this category? Damn.

Congrats... this marks the 2nd raffle in a row for Nectaris that I've lost... :(

Anyway I forgot to share what my favorite strategy game is! ...Guess I would have to say Age of Empires II. It was one of the first ones I'd ever played, only the 2nd game I had ever played online. I remember being really good at playing against the computer, and then when I got a Zone.com account (remember that?) I went online and totally got my ass kicked... isn't that how it's supposed to happen though?

This comment wins... something even better than Nectaris (not many of those things exist last I checked)
