Title: Best CD Jewel Cases?
Post by: MotherGunner on August 08, 2013, 01:19:07 PM
Hey Guys, I know this has been discussed before but I am looking to see if anyone has recently scored some good quality sturdy single CD full-sized jewel cases?

I am looking for something that comes with clear CD trays as I would use them to replace Dreamcast, PS1, Music, and at least use some of the lids for TG/PCE games.

Looking for firsthand knowledge.

Thanks!

Wal-Mart used to have 10 packs of empty jewel cases that I would buy to replace broken and scuffed ones but I haven't seen them there lately.

The ones that we want are an endangered species... Now all that is left are those nice  :^o slim cases. So I keep all of my old cases to recycle, back then when we were buying CD-R's still in those jewel cases I kept them all & put my burned data (mostly *ahem*, "game cartridge backups" *cough* *cough*) inside empty CD-R towers I keep for this purpose... saves a helluva lot of space!

But to really answer your question hummm.... the 1 dollar stores are your best bet nowadays methinks...

I purchased a 100-pack of sparkly-new CD cases last year for just that reason and have a ton left over.  However, they are currently in transit while I wait to move into my new house. If you're up for waiting a few weeks, I can send a bunch your way for the cost of shipping.

Jabber they can be found online in great quantities still.  I was looking for firsthand knowledge based on anyone who may have purchased them.

rofl, thanks man! I would be interested in some regardless of the color of the trays! Take your time man and hit me up whenever!

Pretty sure this was what I ordered: http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Standard-Single-Black-CD/dp/B002ROILDA/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1376020627&sr=8-12&keywords=cd+cases

They are standard size, black. :)  I'll shoot you a PM once I'm unpacked!

Office Depot has them.  Just bought some about a month ago - full size Memorex brand jewel cases with clear trays.  I think they were $4-5 for 10.  They had cases with black trays as well.

It's easy to find the cases, but hard to find good cases. I got some black and clear Memorex cases from Office Depot a few weeks ago. They are decent and better than most generics but still not as good as the cases that games and CDs normally come in.

This is true. The solid, sturdy, thick cases of yore (80's) are gone, friends. It seems that, like beverage containers, things have gotten lighter (thinner) to save on initial production, as well as shipping/freighting/warehousing/etc.

STATUS: DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN 2-LITER SODA BOTTLES HAD A BASE? Opaque, plastic base ~4-5" high. YUP!

NOTE: This tangent is more important than the original topic. True story. Tell me when 2-liter sodas (and other sizes) stopped including the bases. Thank you.
