Title: The Wonderful 101
Post by: munchiaz on August 20, 2013, 08:21:02 PM
The game drops in less than a month for the Wii U. It is developed by platinum games and is a action title. Currently there is a demo on the Wii U eshop that has a small portion of the story mode, and some missions to play. If you are a fan of platinum games, and also enjoyed viewtiful joe, i think this game is right up your ally. I'm really excited for it, and have played through the demo multiple times. Also, I have been keeping up with the offical blog which has discussed game mechanics in depth, and each of the wonder 100 playable characters.
Heres some links for you guys
http://platinumgames.com/games/the-wonderful-101/ - read the blog, view videos and pictures - gamestop UK video review - breakdown of the demo - Nintendo direct wonderful 101
Any of you guys as excited as me for this game ?

Completely different. Have you tried the demo? Great fun.
Your army moves as one. While Pikmin is an RTS with puzzle elements, W101 is a beat em up, and instead of launching tiny Pikmin, you draw shapes on the gamepad (or use the control stick) to transform your heroes in Unite Morphs.
Be warned though, controls are a little tough to get used to at first, but then they become 2nd nature.

Nope, just judging from gameplay videos and screenshots. Sounds cool- if I ever get the U I'll check it out. :)

Bayonetta 2 looks fun. I enjoyed that on the PS3.
Nobody's pumped for Sonic: Lost Worlds?
I am. I haven't been excited for a Sonic game for a long time. But i will be picking this one up.

So i found some amazing videos of youtuber Saur breaking down the system of "The Wonderful 101" There are so many mechanics in this game my head may explode from excitement.
Also here is a interview Kamiya did about the game, and about review scores, and how they really aren't important.... its pretty awesome

I just heard of this. I did NOT enjoy Viewtiful Joe. Just how many times do I need to attack an enemy before they die and I can move on? Waaay too many, actually. The game bored me to tears.

^ where viewtiful joe was on a 2D plane, this game is 3D. So it plays more like devil may cry or bayonetta. If you have a Wii U, download the demo and give it a try

Got the game yesterday, what a blast.
A few minor quirks, but the game is growing on me.

The game does have a learning curve and can be frustrating at times. But many times that frustration is due to the player. I know i was getting upset because i kept hitting L and R instead of ZL and ZR for unite guts and unite spring. So that is just a hump i have to get over.
But there was something frustrating that i had no control over. I believe its mission 001 - b Where you have to fight Laambo in the baseball field. Well after he leaves you have to destroy the cannon. An enemy comes out with a baseball bat and you are supposed to use it to hit the shots fired by the cannon back at the cannon. Well when i killed the enemy holding the baseball bat, the bat disappeared, and i had to reload my last save.
