Pretty fair, considering the last complete one went for 6 grand.

Yeah the box is the most valuable part, generally. MC didn't come with a case.  Just manual and CARD.  BUt 500 is fair starting point given te current market.  is it worth 500?  consider you can get a Japan version loose for maybe 50 -75 easy. just sayin.

pretty fair, if you consider that you could have had that game few years back Cin IBler/Mint for less than 150 bucks.

$500 for a loosie?  What's a loosie go for nowdays?  Might have to drive up there!

and LOL... i love the sock glove he uses to hold the card.

I think it loses value now that his old sock has been all over that game. $220 tops..... P U (pinches nose)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magical-Chase-Instruction-Manual-Turbo-Grafx-16-Duo-PC-Engine-USA-version-/181194614092

you're right... i just haven't had coffee yet today and this auction with a custom case slipped through my input filters. haha

That sale is crazy. $600+ for a manual and a, "fake" case? I wonder if some of the people buying this stuff know Magical Chase never had a case, and this is a case from some other game, with a decal from purchased from a guy, I forget his handle here,  who sold (Still sells?) replacement and special decal sheets here?

I recall, maybe... 2006? When I saw a COMPLETE Magical Chase sell on ebay for about $600, I thought that was a bit crazy, and that prices would come down a bit.

Turbo Grafx, outside a few people I knew many years ago, never gathered much interest. Did all the new interest pop-up because of the Wii offering the games for play? It seems that way.

From 2006, Magical Chase selling complete for $600 or so, to now, at 10x that price... Wow.

I'm wondering if prices in the TG-16 market will ever calm down again, or if it's only further up from here.

I haven't been around here much lately, as I haven't done much gaming, especially console, in a while. Though, this year I did complete Bomberman and Bomberman 93 single player, again. it had been a while. Sometime before the year is out I'll probably squeeze in 94.

can't tell but That doesn't look like sparky's label, there are several inferior custom labels out there now.
Welcome to the crazy pricing.

Welcome to the turbo world of "I never layed it back in the day it must be rare I have to have it for my collection!"   Granted. MC is fairly rare but the idiotic demand for the unknowing are making prices nuts!  Not just for MC.

Agreed.  Sparky's have square cut corners, much better print quality (look at the excessive bleeding around the TurboGrafx and TM), and no banding.

It is definitely not a Sparky label.

I almost picked it up today.  It was very tempting, only an hour and a half away.  But my being on the fence cost me, he sold it to someone else.  I'm not too bothered by it though.  Driving a long distance to meet a stranger in a random location and drop a ton of money on something I couldn't verify once handed to me was kind of a shot in the dark anyway.

I wouldn't feel too bad about letting it go.  Purchases like that are a real "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.  Buy it, and you'll feel guilty and second-guess yourself for spending so much money.  Don't buy it and you'll second-guess yourself for missing out on an "opportunity".

NAh probably not a coincidence as such. that guy is a gouger who has several e-bay accounts.  He'll make money off it . . . . .eventually.

Also so many lulz in description:

Coincidence?  Awfully close location and timing.

Guess we'll find out soon whether or not $500 was a good deal.

Possibly.  That's still almost a 3 hour drive from KC.  It would be a small profit margin once you factor in the gas/vehicle wear/ebay fees.  But I wouldn't be surprised.

That is just crazy.  Even if it was the last game I needed to complete a collection I would not pay that much.

What's the point of describing how rare a game is supposed to be in an auction? Do they expect people who have never heard of it to think "wow, a "R@RE" game! I'd better chuck thousands of dollars at it!"?

The only people who are going to pay more than $50 for it are the ones who already believe the game to be hard to find or valuable.

Yes but is it rare, or MEGA rare?  For some sellers, rare just isn't enough.
