Title: First World denizens please enter.
Post by: Punch on September 05, 2013, 04:42:29 AM
I’m making a CDRom game and I was thinking if it is viable to sell it or it would be better to just release it as a download and move on with life. Since I don’t live in the US or Europe, matters complicate a little bit.

I ask, what is the ideal price on a homebrew game in your opinion, and would you pay $14~$20 on shipping?

Maybe if it is unreasonably expensive I could "license" my game to someone, I wouldn't mind but who would want to press another person's game anyway?

For me, price and interest would entirely depend on what type of game it is and for what system (I give no shits about non-OBEY).  As for distribution, you'd be better off partnering with someone in the US (or wherever it's expected to sell the most) rather than trying to get peeps to spend big bucks on shipping.

I'd support/buy a homebrew game and prefer an actual copy over the rom being released.  :)

I'd buy it as long as it's Turbo/PCE.

This.

Depends on the game and system.  The more "complete" and involved a game, the more I would pay.

I would do both. Release the rom for those who can't afford a purchase and to make a purchase worthwhile for those who can afford it, include something extra like a soundtrack cd.
