I picked this game up roughly a week ago and have been mostly glued to it during my "free time". Considering the last two MK platformer duds, I was a bit wary of it at first but after reading quite a number of positive reviews, I gave it a shot. No disappointment here. The game is really fun and quite challenging for awhile too. Even my wife played it for a bit. I've now beaten it with all four characters in Normal mode, and tonight I conquered it with Liu Kang in Hard mode. Took me quite awhile to figure out how to beat Shao Kahn with Scorpion though...he's a really in-close fighter, and getting close to Shao Kahn is the quickest way to get your ass handed to you seven ways till Sunday. He takes every other boss to school though with his running uppercut and flaming teleport punch. Also, every once in a great while when he connects with his spear ("Get over here!") you hear him say "Get the f*ck over here!". When I first heard that, I couldn't believe they actually put that in the game. Anyways...good game, great time-waster.
Oh, some comparisons with Midway's previous MK offering, Deception:
-The voice acting in MK:SM is FAR better than MK:D, although it still gets a bit cheesey and overacted at times.
-The modellers knew what they were doing this time, the models don't look like they have sticks up their asses like they did in MK:D.
-There are only two memorable tracks in MK:D. MK:SM is full of great music, which was a nice change since no MK game has had a complete, decent score since the original MK.
-MK:SM could have had more characters...the game is a bit short and ends too soon. Just when you're getting into it and are getting all the moves mastered, you're at the end. Huge change from MK:D, which dragged on seemingly forever. Granted there weren't a lot of characters in the story at the time this game takes place, but really, they should have added at least one or two more to extend the game a bit more.

Rover, I was just asking myself last night, "How would MK: Shaolin Monks hold up today in 2014?"
Thanks in advance... (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcg0.png)

I remember really liking this game when it came out. Would've been cool if they re-released it for 360/ps3 with online.
