Hi,
Been a fan my since I got my first TG-16 as a kid and always had great love for the Duo. About 12 yrs ago someone stoled all my games I had packed away and I really want to get my collection back. I'm really interested in getting all the Cd games sealed.
If anyone has any New sealed Cd games and would like to sell them, I would love the help to build my collection back.
Thanks!

Hi-Ya Bud!
-
Hi,
Glad to see the Turbo Community still active, love these games!
-
Yeah, the shrinkwrap on my Turbo games has something special about it that the shrinkwrap on my Genesis games just can't compare to.
-
Seriously, why would you want them sealed?
-
Welcome,
Please go ahead and introduce yourself. What is your favorite turbo game? In your opinion what makes the PC engine the sexiest video game box? In my experience If Make a few friends here, and you'll have access to more games than you can buy just by asking. but showing up asking for sealed games makes you seem like someone who doesn't care for the beloved system. hope this isn't the case.

And just to keep the karma flowing alright here:
If anyone has sealed CD games that they want me to open and play you know where to find me! I'll make sweet opening videos and then raffle it off :)

Let's not jump to conclusions. He said he loved the games as a kid. Maybe he was never allowed to open them originally and this is genuine nostalgia.
Also, how come so many people had their whole collection stolen? Seems like 1 in 3 introductions include the theft tale.
-
Can you explain how you "love" the games, but want them all sealed? How are you going to play them?
Not trying to troll. I'm honestly trying to understand the motivation of sealed collectors.
I bought a sealed copy of John Madden Duo CD football recently. Then I opened it and played it. Got a sealed Sega Saturn game on its way to me right now. Gonna open that as soon as it gets here as well. Don't get me wrong; sealed games are great because everything is fresh and minty. But you only get to enjoy that if you unseal it.

Exactly.
I also bought a sealed madden, opened it, checked out the poster, and I HAVEN'T even played it yet. (Damn Yo Bro monopolizing all my gaming time).

My name is Kevin im 35 years old and I've always been a rpg fan so Comic Fantasy 2 was always one of my favorite games on the Duo along with the Ys games.
The reason im looking for sealed games is just for collection purposes for my man cave. I do have copys of the games I had that play in the Duo so theres no need to open them.

The TG16/Duo plays burned CDRs. The Turbo Everdrive plays all but two games (I think) in the entire PCE/TG16 library. We don't need original media to play the games, at all. Yet, some people want every hucard. Others want every game, complete in case; some here want every game, complete in case and original box. You can't "play" with the case or cardboard box. So, there has to be something beyond "just playing the game." It is collectability. Sealed games are just for another level of collector.
I don't care for sealed games, but I don't think people should malign others for what they value. If it makes someone happy to have an original, sealed, untouched copy of a game, and are willing to pay for that privilege, I don't see a problem there. Life is too short to spend too much time worrying about what makes other people happy, and getting angry over it.
If you have a copy of sealed game for him, great, if not, why not just move on and leave him alone?
-
I think we were genuinely curious why he was looking for sealed specifically.
Jibs said he wasnt trolling, clash was clear he wasnt jumping to conclusions, and i just simply asked why.
I know you have had a tough go of it around here, but not every thread is an attack

eBay is the best place to find sealed games for collecting. Game fan forums like this have too many people who are reluctant to sell games to people who intend to keep someone else from having a chance to play a game.

This.
-
Every game I ever bought "sealed" I opened. Whether it was Power Golf, or Kaze Kiri Ninja Action.
-
I don't think it's really anyone's business whether or not someone wants to buy sealed games. If it's their choice, so be it. If they can afford it, cool.
-
To me, the fact that the OP already owns these games but wants a second copy just to sit wrapped on the shelf doesn't sit right with me. Especially since that was basically his intro here.
Unless he actually means he has burned CD-R copies of these games, and not originals, in which case I kind of get buying sealed ones and continuing to just play the burns (but still don't agree with it).
But, if someone here had a sealed copy in their possession to start with, wouldn't they be guilty of keeping someone else from playing it?
Not necessarily, and if so, maybe not on purpose. My Revival Chase, MBDX, and Implode are still sealed because I have little time to play and am working through a massive backlog in that time I do have, so I haven't had a reason to tear them open yet.

But, if someone here had a sealed copy in their possession to start with, wouldn't they be guilty of keeping someone else from playing it? Not that I particularly care either way. I fully agree that eBay is a much better place for collectors to find complete/sealed games. Hopefully Gonderfire will stick around and contribute to the community discussions regardless of his intentions as a colletor.
I was only giving advice about how to obtain sealed games and some of the roadblocks people face. I did not say that "things should be like this".
There are so many other reasons to possess a sealed game than as a second or third copy which you intend to never open. I thought that it would go without saying in a forum like this.
I'm not advicating any kind of preference, but an obvious example is how I have a very large stack of sealed PCE/Turbo games. I don't think of them as "sealed" though, I think of them as "mint", but not in the collectible grading way. Almost all of them are my lone copies. I had many more until I traded a bunch in this forum. I explained in my ad how I was looking for a list of titles and that aside from other items for trade, I'd be willing to part with some of my lone sealed copies in trades involving less complete and/or poorer condition copies of the same titles. I am not one of the people who will refuse to deal with sealed collectors.
I plan on documenting each variant of packaging and their contents and shooting videos when I open them. Part of it will be for an expanded guide to spotting bootlegs. The few sealed copies which I already own will be opened to become my complete/good condition copies, to accompany old worn and incomplete copies that I've picked up over the past 23 years which have sentimental value, some of which don't function 100%.
The anti-sealed collector types I refered to earlier aren't so concerned with people hording multiple copies of common games so much as harder to find ones. It's no secret that there are more non-Turbo fans in possession of Turbo goods nowadays than actual Turbo fans. This makes it hard for people who love the games, packaging and all, to get a hold of many titles. Meanwhile there are many people who either feel nothing towards the TurboGrafx-16 or even dislike everything about it, who jacked up collector prices piecing together quick "sets" as bragging rights to other possessionists.
It's just like the stupid horse armor. Everyone was warned about setting a precident and now today some of the most basic terrible games cost hundreds of dollars to piece together as separate digital downloads and in the end you have nothing tangible in your hand and the game can expire at any time. Some people in forums like this choose instead to part with some of their "investments" at a "loss" in order to keep them from falling into the hands of "the Sharks".
-
I don't think he "owns" the games already. I think he has CDR copies of the games, so just wants sealed versions of the originals. I personally don't see the point, but there's no diff between owning a sealed copy and playing a CDR and owning an opened copy and playing it, so whatever floats his boat.
And is it possible for DK to f*cking post ANYTHING without being annoying?
Chris

This guy still only has three posts and he's changed his name already. He's a troll or Nintenga or something else horrible, I'm pretty sure.

My whole collection was stolen in '96 by my own family. It really does happen.

I don't think his intention was to say that it doesn't happen but that new members are saying it way too much. Obviously these things can happen but it seems to be more of an easier tale than something like: Hey I needed the money and sold off all my shit. Pulling on the heart strings more thus being more likely that people would come up off their extras at a cheap price for the victim?
Always a possibility.
-
I have CD-R of the games that I owned at one time, just looking to get the real copies back, and since I don't need the actually disk to play thought it would be nice to have sealed copies.
Thanks for the advice ill look to Ebay and such to find these. Now Hu-cards are a different story i'll buy and trade for ones I want to play.

That's a possibility, yeah. And let's face it... the number of scammers has certainly increased over the years. I'm still willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt though.

Loving those douchebags in this community!.
Gondefire33, you are not only one who they throw matches over and trying to burn us!!! I love sealed games also. its just to display the museum of Turbografx and people simple want to destroy because they want to play them. If they cant afford buying sealed and shut the a hole! Let people do whatever they want. I think they should worry about people who monopoloize the houses, apts, condo, townhouses, even lands to make money out of it.. Instead of.. they worry about pennies over games.
No offense Turbo Community. I am enjoying my popcorns as always.!!
Anyway. Gondefire33.. Ebay and Sealed Forum is only way for us to find sealed games!.

Good luck with your collection.
BTW!! CYA BUD!!!
-
Yeah ripping off plastic from sealed games, what maniac would do that kind of mass destruction of games?!?
I prefer leaving the job of hoarding sealed games to museums that will actually preserve the games in the long term instead of letting it rot in an attic, cya bud!
-
More like he "SMOKESSOME BUD!!!" Go away wmacmongoloid.
-
What is the point of collecting without playing? Boo! :-s
-
Well, I collect anime girl figurines but I don't... ok wait a sec, bad example.
-

But those are designed for their aesthetics. Their intended purpose is to sit around and look nice. That's not the case with video games.
Sealed game collectors are literally appreciating the wrong thing.

To each their own, and if someone wants to pay through the nose for a sealed copy of a game, so be it. Who am I to judge how someone spends their money?
But they could at least consider looking for sealed copies of their PCE counterparts. Then the artwork would be worth looking at. In most cases the TG version had really crummy artwork compared to the PCE counterpart. If it's just going to sit there looking pretty, at least it could look pretty.
There's a thread here comparing artwork and if I had better search mojo, I'd add a link to it.

Este-who? Is that a member here?
:-k

See, people *say* that but they don't mean it. My collection of sealed factory fresh child pornography annoys even the most free market friendly.
