I think I like the Saturn slightly more, but yes- The DC is the last console I really fell for.  :)

Thousands of VMUs will beep today in a synchronized, mournful wail.

I love my Dreamcast.

Haha!  Yeah the Saturn and DC are up there with the TurboDuo.  Genesis isn't far behind.  I love the 32x in the back of the picture.  Why is it so happy? Hmmm...?  :-k

I admit, at first, I primarily got a DC for the emulators and homebrews. Then I discovered how awesome the original games were. Love me some Crazy Taxi.

Happy Birthday, Dreamcast!  I don't think I got one on 9/9/99, but it was probably darn close. And it's been a good friend ever since.

Crazy Taxy, Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online, Skies of Arcadia, Space Channel 5, Soul Calibur, Bleemcast!  So many great games.  And then the homebrew community jumped in and I was playing emulators and Beats of Rage long after it disappeared from game shops.

Back around 2000 I needed to get my 3D animation demo reel on VHS but didn't have a good way of recording straight to the VCR from my computer, so I made a video I could play through my Dreamcast and recorded it to VHS that way.  Good times.

I've gone through sooo many CR2032 batteries.

The VMUs make that beep when the battery inside is dead, and the controllers will drain the batteries if you leave the VMUs in when the system is off.  If you take your VMUs out of the controllers you won't have that beep when you power on your DC.  If only I had known that before it was too late.

Oh crap! I totally forgot to wish my Dreamies a happy B-day! Time to fire up some MvC2!

Huh, that's helpful! I'll do that from now on, even though my VMUs, all six of them, are probably dead right now. :/

Did you guys ever notice that the original white VMUs have a longer beep than the colored ones that came out after?  They should've just removed it entirely.

partially true, I have two white vmus. One of them makes the short beep.
