Title: Question about Wizardry 4 on the PC Engine
Post by: Xak on September 11, 2013, 05:29:44 AM
is it the same as Wizardry 4 Gaiden on SNES?

Since 4 requires a save file from 3. Then again its two games on one huey. Also I would imagine even with all the options in english the story and random events are japanese. Wizardry 1-6 on SNES , 4 had to be a totally original game since it could not transfer over parties from part 3. Hence Wizardry 4 GAIDEN

There are no HuCard versions of Wizardry games. Whever I've compared Wizardry games between PCE and SNES they have looked pretty different. But maybe I only checked out 2 or 3 of the five games. :P

It's Wizardry IV: Return of Werdna.  It's not Wizardry Gaiden IV: Throb of the Demon's Heart.

You play as Werdna and have to ascend back out of where you were imprisoned at.   10 floors of sheer f*cking terror/frustration await you.

The Gaiden games are their own series of spinoffs

No, its basically a revamped version of the Dos version where your monsters gain levels, you can replinish your monsters and it adds cd music (there's probably more). I would almost say its a little easier than the original with these additions. I don't believe the 4th Wizardry game has been remade on any other console other than the pc engine so it really needs some love. :)

^Ok so its the real Wiz 4 since you can import your characters from 3 via the DUO ram.

I want to play Wiz 4 Gaiden in english.

Wizardry 4 (USA) is considered the worst for being the most difficult RPG ever made

That's what I said.

It's not that hard, anyway.

I would say its easier than the Dos version for sure. I'm almost positive you can probably lift most if not all of the text from the Dos version and transplant it to the PCE version for the non translated parts.
