It's that time again - welcome to another year of Secret Santa! The rules:
1. Don't sign up if you can't/won't follow through. 2. Signups are open now until the first of November, at which time everyone'll be matched up and wish lists will get sent to their Santas. 3. To make life easier for me, please follow the format below when sending me your info. Keep in mind that the more options your Santa has, the better the chances of him (or her) finding a good deal in the time allotted. 4. Value of your gift(s) should be in the $20-30 range - real value and not bloated OMG R@R3!! eBay value. 5. Gifts should be mailed by December 10th at the latest, but it's not Secret Thanksgiving Gobbler so not too early either. If for some reason you won't be able to meet that time frame, please let me know as early as you can so that alternate plans can be made and nobody ends up with nothing under their tree but new socks and tears of regret. 6. This is important and bears repeating: don't sign up if you won't follow through. Failure to hold up your end of the bargain will result in severe beatings and/or flaming poo bags on your front porch. 7. Most importantly - have fun!
For extra holiday cheer, one random participant will be selected to receive coal (http://pcengine.co.uk/HTML_Games/Magicoal.htm) in their stocking and another participant will get a copy of the Turbo Legacy Poster (http://www.cafepress.com/pcenginefx.260707543). If you don't want (or already have) either of these goodies, please note accordingly on the form below.
Also, let me know if you don't want to shop for me since it won't exactly be secret.
Sign up sheet format for when you PM me your list -
Forum Alias: Last Year's Recipient (if applicable): Shipping Name/Address: Condition (i.e. - complete, boxed, mint, loose, etc.): Wish List: Entered in the poster drawing? (yes/no): Entered in the game drawing? (yes/no):

This space reserved for list of participants. Please send me a PM if your name isn't listed and it should be.
I don't need your wish list to sign up, by the way. That can wait until the end of the month, so y'all got plenty of time to think it over.
SuperPlay has generously joined up to be an extra Santa for four lucky participants to be chosen at random. 8)
4. Value of your gift(s) should be in the $20-30 range - real value and not bloated OMG R@R3!! eBay
People always ask for games outside of that range regardless of where you can get it. Just saying.

Just a recommendation for some of you guys, I just have all the games I want in my PCEDaisakusen wishlist and post a link to that so whoever has me has 149 games to choose from. Hopefully they can find something in their price range and I get a nice surprise :D

I'm guilty of this, though my list is lengthy with lots of cheapies amongst the pricey titles. I'm just too lazy to trim down my complete wish list.
M.G. makes a good point: please don't fill your list with titles that can only be found for cheap if you wait months for an honest auction. You never know when Santa will get lucky, but give the guy something to fall back on.

Bump!
Also: note that SuperPlay has offered to send out some extra holiday cheer to four lucky Santas. He asks nothing in return, but he'd take a Le TurboDoodle (or the like) to show off in his game room if any of you creative types can oblige.

Would he be interested in 3D art or only 2D?

Bump! Only about a week left and there's half as many Santas as we had last year; must've been a rough year at the North Pole.

The schedule for this seems to be tighter this year. I remember having purchased my SS gift for last year in October. Is this inaccurate? My memory is one year older now.
The reason I bring it up is because I was fearful of my gift not reaching its recipient in time. Canada Post is notoriously shitty.
@Necro - Postal Rates have gone up exponentially in Canada (and in the USA). I don't know if this is possible, and it's only a suggestion so tell me to piss off if you want, but maybe it would be a good idea to pair participants up based on country?

Already planned on, though unless some more Canucks join in it ain't gonna be much of a Secret Santa.

All naughty and nice lists have now been sent to their respective Santas. Please let me know if you didn't get 'em or if something seems amiss.
At five requests each, the most requested titles were Out Run and Jackie Chan; next most popular were Gradius, Splatterhouse, and Valis 3 at four requests each. For the PC-FX, it had a seven way tie (only two requests each) between Ah! My Goddess!, Chip Chan Kick, Dragon Knight 4, First Kiss Monogatari, Last Imperial Prince, Megami Paradise 2, and Miraculum.

I'm a f*cking retard and accidentally opened my present early. I order stuff all the time so I just frantically rip boxes open like a 5 year old when I see packages when I get in from work. I was confused at first. "I Didn't order this! Where did it come fro... oh... whoops... >_>"
So, thank you to the person who got me CAN CAN BOOBY DX SUPER GOOD VERSION. It's a fun time. Even though I can barely figure out what they are talking about.
I might get the chiptunes off it onto PC to share. The music is great.
My presents to humanoid person will be going out in the next day or two.

Maybe it should be a rule in the future that Santas WRAP their gifts they send out. I know I also open just about every box that comes in the mail, but would probably stop ripping through them if I noticed some gift wrap over the items inside. Perhaps a "Don't OBEY until XMAS" note inside the box?

Well, to be fair here, they DID wrap it, in newspaper labeled "Fancy Gift Wrap".
That made me laugh pretty hard. But, in my furious rage to get the box open and see what it was, I basically just ripped that stuff open like a fat kid trying to get at a twinkie.

Sealed copies of CF2 and Exile are actually very common, but either way it would have been a great secret santa gift on its own.
Yeah, it's a great gift. I bought a used copy for $29 I think ages ago. Wasn't happy about the manual being a bit roughed up though. I remember enjoying the game well enough. Great to have finally gotten a full, traditional RPG on CD.

Turboplay worked with Necro to make 4 (I think) lucky members rich with rockin' tunes.

Fun Fact!!
in the late 1800's
St. Nicolas Clause (santa) was really a rich middle eastern man that smoked opium out of a pipe and wielded a scimitar and ONE frozen winter he gave to all the children in the village , food, trinkets and many articles of winter clothing.

Wow, so much for the "Value of your gift(s) should be in the $20-30 range - real value and not bloated OMG R@R3!! eBay value."
This is the main reason why I excused myself this year (and possibly permanently in the future). I didn't want to feel BAD again that I actually stuck to the rules, as clearly most of you are getting way more than amount the rules state even at real value.
In turn, the person receiving could potentially also feel bad since they witness others who scored a "big spender" as their secret santa.
Apologies for the thread-crap and if I came off like a Scrooge. I am happy for all of you, it's just that this has become a really sore subject for me.

Keep in mind that some members are getting stuff in Japan or as part of lots for comparatively cheap, but everyone should be grateful for what they received and not envious of others anyway. The only reason to feel bad is if you sent something that wasn't even close to the price range (have a Keith!) or something they won't want at all.

MG, the Duo I received was not a Secret Santa. I just placed it in this thread as it counted as a Christmas gift. Sorry for any confusion.

I think it has a little to do with who you are paired up with too. For instance, I went a bit over the limit because of who I got. I don't know who mine was, but I am very grateful for what I got. Also, last year my recipient asked for a couple games I happened to have dupes of.

Here is my gift  I have Graduis 1 for the PCE (I won't waste my time with the crappy NES version) so now I can continue to kick ass in the series.
My secret Santa also wrapped my gift and added a super sweet Santa Zonk tag that I kept. I hope to post pics of that soon.

The NES game. I do believe he is calling out your extra "u" in culture. You typed it culuture. Which would have been easily glanced over as cluclu.
I don't know what clu clu clan is. nor do I want to know why you suggested that.

Zachary "Zack" Morris is a fictional character from the sitcoms Good Morning, Miss Bliss; Saved by the Bell; Saved by the Bell: The College Years; and Saved by the Bell: The New Class. He was portrayed by Mark-Paul Gosselaar. Though the character appeared in several different television programs, Gosselaar made a concerted effort to keep the character fundamentally the same through its various incarnations.
I'm serious. Research it if you dont believe me.

Please stop bumping this thread with your incoherent, nonsensical rambling. You have nothing to do with our Secret Santa gift exchange and your posts are completely pointless and off topic.

A little late to the party; just got back home from holiday travel extravaganza 2013 - but here's my goods:
Im serious , Europe especially eastern Europe and Russian culuture takes the story of St. Noel very seriously. Research it if you dont believe me.
This thread is not about Santa (or the glorification of drugs), and St. Nick lived 1500 years before your purported "fact". You're entirely incorrect and off topic, so f*ck off.
I've reports of one gift not arriving yet, but is anyone else still waiting? :|

So wait. Did you get the PC Engine versions in the US cases?
I'm guessing they're Sparky labels. I've created US cases using Sparky labels from some of my loose PCE hueys. :)
Nice, Jeff! I've been wanting to play JJ & Jeff / Kato & Ken again and Cadash is all sorts of fun.
Ah I didn't think about that. :)
Yup - they're PCE versions with Sparky labels. If anybody has loose PCE cases/manuals for these let me know ;)

Was totally not expecting this to come in the mail from Superplay with a nice Christmas card. Thanks so much man can't wait to check out this when I get home. I don't have any pce soundtrack CDs so this is a real treat!
My Secret Santa gifts arrived today (better late than never). Looks like I was one of the 4 lucky recipients of the soundtrack CD from SuperPlay. Thanks and appreciation to Necromancer for hosting the Secret Santa gift exchange, SuperPlay for providing additional gifts, and my Secret Santa (my guess is bartre?).

yeah, bartre it was. sorry about the late shipping, personal life/work/school/moving and all that jazz kinda crushed me the last couple months.
oh, and a huge thank you to my SS! I got Son Son II and Dead Moon, two games i was starting to doubt i'd ever actually own.

My Secret Santa also went overboard:

I got these other PCE games from my girlfriend and here parents (whom she shopped for ) as X-Mas/birthday presents:

So this wound up being one of my best years for Turbo/PCE gifts. I'm planning a 4+ player PCE birthday party this weekend. I hope to record some multiplayer gameplay footage of Motoroaders, Bombermans and Dungeon Explorers (among other games). :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New year everyone! Thanks to my SS for the awesome gift, and also to the bonus secret Santa!
Also ROFLMAO - I meant to put in a little card with a barcode that when you scanned you got this image (to give away the SS identity). I didn't have a chance to do that but here is the picture anyway. =) (https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/307x307q90/651/yba3847b9de915df54167cf.jpg)
HUGE THANKS go out to Duo_R for his very generous Secret Santa gifts. I was floored when I opened the presents this morning. I've been playing them quite a bit today. :) And there's not much left of the sweets (though I started early on them)!

Haha! That's hilarious!
Seriously, you went above and beyond my wildest expectations. I gasped and was giddy like a schoolgirl when I opened them on Christmas (my wife can back that up). I've been playing a ton of Cosmic Fantasy 2 since I opened it. It's been glorious, though it is truly an old-school, grindy rpg. And I did feel *a bit* embarassed when the Babette shower scene popped up with my wife nearby. And then I died before having a chance to save (damn random battles!) so had to go through it again.
Thanks, Duo_R, for unnecessary marital stress.

So much for them shipping "usually within 24 hours"; it was ordered more than a week before x-mas but not picked up by FedEx until the 30th. Better late than never though.
