Anyone ever get far in this or learn how to master the horrible controls? I hated the 45 minute intro before getting to the gameplay.

I got about half way through. It's super tough. The cut scenes are awesome. If you don't like them you are really missing out on one of the best parts of the game. The save system is funky cause you can save any spot. If you loose too much health you will run out of gems to have enough to beat the game and start over so you pretty much have to save before every fiend you fight and try to kill them a couple times till you find a nice pattern and don't loose too much health.
