Title: PCE Fighting games!
Post by: Nando on November 20, 2013, 07:14:03 AM
I own SF II' and Burning Fest and like both games quite a bit. Which is the next logical purchase?
I've only played the above games a handful of times, I've no biases towards any of them. Your input please :D

I haven't played any of the ones on your poll, but I dig Flash Hiders. It's got a variety of characters, good graphics, sound, animation, etc. I don't play a lot of fighting games, though.

Kabuki Itouryodan, hands down. It's not a port (good though the neogeo ports may be), it is wonderfully detailed and colorful, sports tons of great sprite animation, has a nice variety of characters, and the controls are fantastic (though the desperation moves are hard for me to pull off).
But why just these three to pick from? No love for Godzilla?

I agree with Necromancer's suggestion, Kabuki Itouryodan is my favorite Fighting game for the PCE.

You can't beat World Heroes for character selection music so my vote goes to that!

Kabuki is the best purchase. Flash Hiders should probably be your next purchase after that? Also, don't count out Fatal Fury 2 or Special. Both are great to me, but I've always loved the series. You also should check out Asuka 120% if you don't own it on Saturn already.

I voted for AoF since it is such rad how it kicks off the biggest sprites possible and even managed to port over the zooming trickery.
but yeah, if you want to go with uniqueness, then kabuki would be the only choice.

Kabuki Itouryodan for the uniqueness. Neogeo versions of AOF and World heroes 2 are so cheap that you'd better get those versions, even if the obey versions are great.

Kabuki gets my vote. Great control, amazing animation, and a good atmosphere makes it a lot of fun. This was the first ACD I got, and part of the initial batch of PCE games I ever purchased.
Flash Hiders is really good also! The Neo ports are pretty cool, but I have to admit I didn't play a lot of them BITD and I suck at them. If nothing else, looks great.

We used to have a Martial Champion machine at one of our local arcades; used to love that game, though I had no eartly clue what anyone in the game was saying, heh.

Change my vote to Godzilla now that that's an option. Big monsters > plain ol' people.
