QFT. Unless you would be content just getting the early releases, it is hard to recommend getting an AES as the later titles can get quite expensive.
-
We need an AES Ever drive!
-
With the new cheaper converter (hopefully) coming out, I'd like to get an AES eventually especially since I have a decent MVS collection and the cheaper AES games are pretty cool and some of my favorite neo games already.

We need an AES Ever drive!
There is the multicarts such as the 161 in 1.
-
What was the serial number of this unit? I'm in the Market for a CD system, lemy know if you find any on the cheap. I can always use another AES to play riding hero with a buddy.

There is the multicarts such as the 161 in 1.
None of these items are cost effective.
Once a $200 multicart or a $150 everdrive comes out, AES will be awesome. I have about half of the AES library, but the second half literally would cost 20x more than the half I own.

Sooooooo yur saying that an aes ever drive is not cist effective because it will devalue your collection, or inflate the titles you don't have?
Sounds like a personal problem.

There's no point in AES except "I always wanted it as a kid/teenager." or it's just aesthetic reasons. MVS has games that aren't even on AES. Regardless that price is amazing and glad it went to someone on here. There are a couple AES games that really are cheaper than on MVS. Just two that I know of. Magician Lord and Nam 1975.

I want something to take to friends houses and game conventions and occasionally set up at home when I wanna play neo on the couch instead of the cab

I know a converter plus multicart is very expensive together for a aes.Even if some one could make a everdrive for the neo-geo it would most likely be cost prohibitive.
-
congrats to the buyer and nice on ya Nec.Head for selling at such an awesome price.
I'm always in the market for an AES for under 200 bills. ;)

I am saying that none of the options are cost effective because multicarts are $500+ dollars, converters are multiple $100s of dollars and don't work, and an Everdrive doesn't exists but would also like cost an obscene amount of $ if it did.
Your assumption just made you look like a tool. Obviously my collection of games like Samurai Showdown and Super Spy doesn't have a value worth protecting.
-
Don't let your feelings hurt. That's just how I perceived your post. And no I really dont feel like a tool for saying it.
-
an AES flash cart/everdrive is not cost effective that's why it hasn't been done.
-
What makes it more expensive than any other flash cart?
-

Well for starters you would have to sacrifice existing AES games in order to make the flash cart. Also, opening up an AES cart can be really tedious from what I've heard as the clips holding the game together tend to snap very easily. Not to mention the soldering work that would be required.
-
mass producing those boards are pricey
plus the size of the cart you cant just sac crappy sports titles like snes/genny. its not like getting an emulator to work where you can spoof all the hardware its expecting from the cart since its all software. some neo games use custom chips and totally different PCBs in the playmore era games. there is a lot to take into consideration. why waste time on a flashcart that only plays the games from a certain era? You would only waste time on one that could play ALL the games.
-
Flash carts are made from existing games? I did not know that. The Turbo Drive looks custom.
-
There is a Multi Cart sold by http://www.neostore.com/, they are nuts in pricing.
-
The 161-in-1 MVS cart usually sells for $70.

I bought my AES almost solely for the it-was-unattainable-as-a-kid factor. I own about 20 games and literally do not have the stomach to purchase any more - especially now that prices have jumped to almost laughable levels.
The only remaining game I really want is Last Resort and that one is getting ridiculous.
