Most know him for playing as Uncle Phil on fresh prince but he was the voice for shredder in the original tmnt cartoon. http://www.abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/james-avery-fresh-prince-fame-dead-65-21391663

That's a bummer, especially around the holidays. 68 is a bit young, but at least he lead a mostly full life.
The last thing I remember seeing him in was That 70s Show as Kelso's cop boss. 'Twas funny.

TRON: I had no idea he was the voice of Shredder! I didn't like the cartoon, but of course I watched every episode.

I just re-watched License To Drive this summer with my wife/daughter...it actually held up a lot better than I thought it would. I am not ashamed to admit that I like the damn film.
Avery's role was great—don't spill a drop of coffee!

I've been watching the old tmnt on DVD just yesterday with my daughter and she loves them. I didn't know he voiced shedder either.
