Title: WTB: Duo RX or Duo RX modded for optional US game play

New to the forum. Long time collector. Never owned this console. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Duo-RX preferably. Game bundle would be desirable.

To be clear, did you mean that you wanted it modded to play both Japanese and US hucards? Technically, both regions are NTSC.

Yes, sorry. I wanted it to be able to play both Japanese and NA hucards/cds. I believe the CDs portion is good, just the hucards that were the issue with region lockout?

Is eBay recommended to buy a Duo R or RX? Anyone have any experience with this? Anything I need to look out for?

I bought mine from ebay years ago (before I discovered this site) and had a local guy (Red Ghost) mod it for me.

duo-r and duo-rx do not suffer from any type of capacitor failure that I know of. however I have come across a couple that if needed some slight tweaking for the CD lens here and there. one main weakness for those systems that I've seen more often is that both the controller and AV ports usually need re soldering at some point. those connections loosen up over time. there are quite a few of us including myself here who would be happy to do a region mod for you for a small fee.

The r and rx don't suffer from the cap issues, but the boards are less rugged then the original
Also the rx has an upgraded drive that won't get stuck at the outer edge of the cd (a glitch that occurs when the system loses focus during track seek)

Thanks for the info hoobs88, Keith Courage, and thesteve! Now I just have find an RX worth buying. I love my Sega CDX, but there are really only 20 good games (or so) for it. I want to get some PCE game collecting going on.
