Title: Solstice & Equinox
Post by: yoyo on January 18, 2014, 10:10:46 PM
For those that don't know, Solstice is an NES game and Equinox is its sequel also known as Solstice II (who'da thunk it!!), both are isometric platform/puzzle games that're quite difficult, if you've never played either, go check 'em out, worth it.

Anyone ever play these? I've never beaten Solstice and I really don't know if I'll ever be able to  :-k However I've been working on Equinox lately and I'm at the Ghost Ship, I think it's one stage before the final, I love it, as well as Solstice. Anyone ever beat these, enjoy 'em? Certainly some pretty awesome hidden gems on both consoles, not really anything like these. Anybody know of anything like these that I should check out?

thats right, there is  a space themed one for the original gameboy. it may be the previously mentioned Monster Max, the name escapes me now.

i tried to play Equinox, even had the Nintendo power that told you what to do. i couldnt get into it. Maybe when im older i will try it again.

It's worth another chance later down the road. If you need help, I'd recommend using the guide on FlyingOmelette, it's helped me when I've needed it for sure.

Edit: Also, for anyone else interested, I ran across yet another title, an earlier one, of this style for the Commodore 64/MSX/etc, Head Over Heels.

Try Gotzendiener for the PCE.  It's not exactly the same type of game, but it's isometric and has a few puzzley elements (though not hardly enough).

Altered Space.

Light Crusader is an isometric dungeon crawler from Treasure which features detailed graphics with great variety, animation and sound. It's one of the most impressive 16-bit console games but is painfully under appreciated.

My brother loves Solstice, but I never bothered to play it.

This is the very first isometric adventure game ever.

Why does Knight Lore always remind me of Air Ball for Amiga and ST?
