Title: WTB-PSP model 2000
Post by: Mathius on January 19, 2014, 02:27:18 PM
Seeing as how Falcom won't listen to me and release some of their games on a console (Wii U!) I would like to get a PSP and start getting the Ys games I missed out on. And yes I know about the availability of some Ys games on Steam. It's not the same. I tried.

So, I am looking for a PSP model 2000 where I can hook it up to a TV and game away til my eyes fall out. Please make offers.

Sucks that on the Vita, PSP games look WAY better but the VITA doesn't do AV out.  Sure playing on a big TV is a must?

Yeah I'm sure. I am not a dedicated handheld gamer, so if I have a way to play handheld games on my TV I'll usually go that route.

If you want to play on a TV may I suggest a PSP 3000? I got both,  the 3000 can fill the screen more (2000 can with hacks but not as nice).

I was under the impression that the 3000 model couldn't output to a TV.

No it did it better than the 2000. That's the reason why I have both.

Ok update - the main advantage of 3000 is displaying on non HD displays, so that might not be an issue for you:

There are drawbacks to the "improved" screen, this has a good comparison:

If you want TV out, get a Go so you can use a real controller.  The drawback being that the Go kinda sucks by itself (shitty control layout).

What about the Vita TV?  Can't it play PSP games, either as legitimate download or custom firmware?  It's not here yet, but you could import a JP version.  More monies but more Ys too.

That makes things easier. Thanks! I'll try for a 3000 model then. I am planning to play on a CRT TV.

I forgot about Vita TV! I need to research it more.

Go for this one reason: your digital downloads would work on the PS Vita TV or PS Vita should you ever get those. if you found a deal on one that wouldn't be a bad way to go.

Keep in mind all PsP systems don't display full screen on an HDTV, however if your TV has a ZOOM function that can fix that. I haven't tried that in ages should try on my new 60" Samsung.

Sony announced we are getting Vita TV in the west, they Just mentioned it will be changed slightly for our market. Not sure when or what changes (probably streaming services).

Really?

I'm sure the addition of the new PS4 controller with the touch area will be one of them.

Are we getting the Vita with the LCD too?

That would be nice although it uses PS3 in Japan.

I think we also are getting the updated Vita but no date.

The Vita seems to be the best of all worlds if you want to stay in the Sony eco system. You can load up ISO's of PSP games and get access to the PSN as well as the Vita only games.

My eyes are set on Persona, Ys, BlazBlue, Muramasa, Hot Shots Golf (cause I love that series,) Dragons Crown, but if I can get the D&D games on the vita, then those first. lol

there are also a few other games, but those would be my top want for the Vita for now.

Same here!  I've been putting off buying one for awhile in the hope that Vita TV would come out here.  I've got a handful of games for the system already but no unit to play them on!

I've not seen anything definitive like a release date or specifically the USA, but they have alluded to a using a different marketing approach for "western markets".  Since we already have a crowded streaming box market, I took that to mean they'll try to sell it here on its ability to stream games as a Playstation Now device.

3001? Will it output to a TV?

Yes.  Only the first model (1000) and the last stripper model (E1000) can not.
