I'd appreciate it if you guys can give me some feedback on what kind of menu translations you would prefer.
An English version of the in-game menus, as though it was actually translated, with everything lined up to glance at. Perhaps with the Japanese version next to it?

An animated version which jumps between English and Japanese:

One with translations and arrows:

Any other suggestions of what you like and dislike in general are also welcome.
Thanks. :)

1st tell us for which purpose/use? :)

The first option is the best..... in game!
For a walkthrough, I prefer the last option. I print 'em out so I don't need a computer near when I'm playing something (so no gif), and having both the original text and english might help me learn those chickenscratches (in a million years maybe).

I'm putting together proper sites for my PC Engine walkthroughs. The rest will be a surprise.

For walkthroughs definitely the 3rd. For an actual translation definitely the first. So basically echoing what Necromancer said.

Yes, I concur.
Of course, this is coming from me...and I basically never use walkthroughs/FAQs.
That said, Necro nailed the most typical use-case. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)
