Title: MD Game Covers Scan Request
Post by: VenomMacbeth on February 18, 2014, 11:04:48 AM
So I've been buying bootleg Mega Drive carts lately, as they're very affordable compared to their genuine counterparts.  The problem is, I only collect games with cases.  I've printed a couple covers for games I've bought, but so far I've only found good scans for Musha Aleste and Castlevania Bloodlines.  I need good-quality scans of the covers for the following games:

Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer
Panorama Cotton
V-V (V-Five/Grind Stormer)
Vampire Killer
Contra: The Hard Corps

I'm not trying to sell bootlegged cased copies or anything like that.  Hell, you could even put a watermark on it it, though preferably somewhere unobtrusive.  Can anyone lend me a hand or am I SOL?

Why yes.  It would.

There appear to be a shit-load of bootleg 'genesis' carts on ebay right now
Stuff that was never released outside of the Japan scene, but re-packeged to look extremely authentic:

Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer
Panorama Cotton
V-V (V-Five/Grind Stormer)
Vampire Killer
Contra: The Hard Corps

The ones above that you quoted, along with Eliminate Down etc.
Why would you need Vampire Killer cover ?
Isn't the Castlevania Bloodlines, you already have, the same game?
(there's a very obnoxious odour on this thread)
Bootleggers, scum of the galaxy.

I do, but I'm tempted to get rid of it in favor of a Vampire Killer boot, especially since the label on my copy of Bloodlines is a bit ratty.  And I know the ones you're talking about (the Japanese MD games with US genesis style packaging?)  I'm looking for the Japanese cover art.  I'm not even printing them on glossy paper, just regular printer paper.  I'm not changing the labels either, and trust me, they very obviously not the official labels.  Anybody with a brain stem could see that these are bootlegs from a mile away, even with the "custom" cases.

On these boots are they using eproms or flash chips? I think I asked around somewhere before but never got a reply. I was curious about that, and the build quality on them.

Seriously, how are they getting away with this obvious organised crime on ebay ??

I'm not really sure how to tell, but I'll crack one open & take a picture for you here shortly.

Ditto. I expected some pretty weak quality work. Looks like pro factory job instead.

You two noobs need to troll elsewhere. No one here is promoting the selling of boots.

It should be noted that the plastic used for the shell is very, very cheap.  I accidentally broke a chunk off of the V-V cart with minimum force.

Scuse the necropost, but I've still yet to find good scans for Gleylancer, V-V, and Panorama Cotton.  If you want, you can print a copy on a sheet of regular printer paper & mail it to me.  I don't care.  Having these loose pirate carts sitting near the cased games is driving me crazy! >.<

what a dumb statement to make, they already promoted the selling of bootlegs, BY BUYING THEM.
dumb or extremely naive, go back to college prof.

Look, Rtyper, the point prof is trying to make is that nobody is trying to pass off bootleg games as the real thing.  Again, a monkey could see that these cartridges are fake.  That's also why I print my "custom" covers on printer paper, that way they can be easily distinguished as fake.  I am not a gouger or ebay reseller or anything like that, I just like holding physical copies of the games I like without having to spend bukus of cash on them, rather than playing them via emulation or flash cart.  Now kindly take your pitchforks and torches elsewhere.

(sorry, flickr's being a bitch about giving me the bbcode right now)

Note how sloppy & unprofessional they look.  I really need to invest in a guillotine.  I also made a cover for Musha Aleste, but I've got no picture yet.

I'm just curious if you or Miracle Warrior possess Sapphire bootlegs, since too many people treat them like they aren't piracy.

Thank you, Lost Monkey.  I'll definitely be making use of some of these.  However, I'm mainly looking for the Japanese MD cover art.

Speaking of which, I had a thought...does Panorama Cotton come in a regular-sized clamshell case, or one of the smaller Sunsoft ones?

ah, vulgar name calling, last resort of the incompetent.

You know you can't actually win this argument, the minute someone starts posting bootlegs of
TG16 Magical Chase on ebay for $5000 (assuming someone already hasn't) causing epileptic seizures among the collective membership of this forum, your reactions will show you for the hypocrites you really are.

Nobody else can win the argument because you won't shut up.

We're all very impressed with your minty Sapphire, but the fact of the matter is you're lumping these shitty $15 MD pirate carts into the same category as a bootleg copy of Magical Chase or Sapphire, which is completely asinine.  There are some very obvious differences between these carts and official copies, and if you can't tell the difference, guess what?  You're only out $15 because, for the umpteen-millionth time, nobody is trying to pass these off as official.

Why?  Why are you so adamant about douching up this thread?  I didn't ask your opinion, I asked for video game cover scans to satisfy my collecting OCD.  If you just HAVE to jump on your little soap box again, please do it in another thread that isn't mine.

Aside from your use of name calling to insult someone for name calling, you wouldn't be proving his point so much if you hadn't just spammed so many huge pics of one of your prized collectibles along with that line and smiley.

So you don't even support physically published PC Engine homebrew games like Meteor Blaster DX, Insanity, Pyramid Plunder, Mysterious Song, Revival Chase, etc? What about all the rip-off C64 games?

But you still paid money for an emulator?

Or maybe I'm just vulgar.  Either way, at least I'm competent enough to form complete sentences and correctly use of grammar and punctuation.

That's not at all analogous, clownshoes.  Nobody is selling anything in this thread, and the boots that are being discussed are not being passed off as legitimate or being sold for ridiculously high prices.

It's probably news to a socially retarded asswipe such as yourself, but there are indeed booty hueys and flashcarts.  Nobody here gives a shit.
