You might want to join the waiting list :P

Your post history is relatively small despite being a member since 2008. My advice to you is to take part in the turbo discussions before posting a WTB or sale thread. Some people don't want to deal with new members, especially with rare games such as MC.

Not really sure what's so funny? It's not like I came in here acting like a dick. I asked a question and offered a fair amount of money that would maybe make it worth a member to sell their copy.

Whats funny, is that this is a community hear, that doesn't take kindly to people who just join to buy and sell things. Like someone else pointed out, you have been a member since 08 and you have basically 0 post.

Good GOD my man.  5000 bucks?!  Shit...  I will just play it on the EverDrive.  I can think of too many things to do with that kinda cash.  I have to say, I freaking wish I had one, cause I'd be guilty of taking your monies and selling it to ya FAST!

I'm not new here. I used to come here all of the time to read what the other members posted. Usually when I posted it was about me buying things, but I was in school at the time and was kind of poor to be honest with you, so I didn't post much because I didn't have stories to tell like everyone else about the stuff they bought or anything else that would have been interesting to the community. I came back on every now and then, but these boards were no way near as active as they used to be. Doesn't mean I'm not a member.

So you were to poor to post (doesn't require any funds) Yet you had post in the buying thread, and you only need MC to complete your turbo grafx collection?!?!

Yeah, what don't you get? I didn't have money back then. I have money now due to me paying for school then. And yes I did buy things and you know what, had to sell them after just to get one book that I needed that I could no longer afford at the time. And now I reap the rewards and can do pretty much whatever I want as well as buy what I want!

I have a 6 pack of sealed MC's that I managed to acquire (You know, the original shipping containers they came as a 6 pack that's sealed.).  Unfortunately, I can't break it open to split it up as it would decrease the collectors value. If you'd like to make me an offer on all 6, I'm willing to listen.

Please post your offer here as I would like full documentation of the possible sale if we come to an arrangement.

was my first thought too. from poor to rich in a wink and now only needs MC to complete what others working on for many years collecting since probably day one.

but I don't say this is wrong, because I just don't know. it's just kind of odd, opening a thread and zack puts 5 gran on the table for something that isn't even worth that much of money.

I agree Magical Chase is definitely not worth the money. I get that the production was limited, however, there are other games out there that in my opinion are just as rare, but do not command the attention/price Magical Chase does.

No, I'm not rich but I make good money now and have always loved video games. It's not about it being worth that much, it's about making it worth selling if someone were to have it. Maybe someone wants to take the money and wait for a copy from somewhere else.

I have it on the way. That one was pretty easy and cheap to get. Still need the US version. It's no problem though, I'll wait and get it eventually.

$200 cheap?!? Hey i make good money to, but $200 for any game is not cheap. This guy just loves throwing around money. But hey, it's your money, so you can do with it as you please. Just like its most people's opinion here that your crazy for spending that much on a game that most likely cost about $10 to to produce(cardboard, and plastic)

Well I mean cheap compared to the US version. Hey, I think the same thing when people spend crazy money on Stadium Events when in my opinion, it sucks. It's just having it to complete a collection, am I right? That's all I want to do, but with a game that I'll play. This is my favorite system and to me it's worth it!

5 grand? Wow. Wish I had it to sell to ya.

Magical Chase is a fun, little scrolling shooter, but you've probably had more enjoyment from plenty of other shooters you may have played on the TG/Duo and others systems. My first TG shooter was Gate of Thunder, and I like it better than MC. Still, I got a soft spot for Ripple and her option-like star pals.

It's really funny when someone who will pay 5000$ for a mediocre shooter calls everyone else a$$holes.

That game isn't worth it.  Import the Japanese one and use the rest of the money on something useful instead of perpetuating stupidity by paying the retard price.

mossman43, you have to understand this place (here comes sparkys same old speech)

This is a haven for collectors/but mostly for gamers....the last place for fair and reasonable prices and this community makes sure of that with its straight up and tell you advice, you are not to first to ride the rail, as people here are just sick of it and ebay and other f*cking forums that are more for collectors and for bragging rights of what they have. It sounds like you play yours but at any cost.

May i ask if your short just the one game where have you bought your games recently? ebay?... if so that is fine but your best to stick over there with your mind set.

best of luck, but with $5000 i could put that towards a 82 vette i have my eye on :P

I get my games wherever I can. It's not just TG-16/PCE, but very console from the NES up. Unfortunately, this is the one that no matter what, I can't find. I was trying to buy from a collector here if anyone was willing to sell it. I play everything too. Sometimes it's for minutes because the game is bad, and others I finish because I enjoy them. That's what I was saying earlier about games like stadium events..the game is shit and nobody plays it, but it commands huge money. If I wanted that game I could make a call and get it from a friend I have that owns a store. Magical Chase is a game that not one collector around me has that I know of. What am I to do? I come here and offer big money because it's near impossible to acquire. I didn't come here with the intentions of over paying, I just figured it couldn't be touched unless it was for eBay money.

I wasn't able to find any completed on ebay, either.  I seem to recall the last auction I witnessed ended north of $7k... There is a thread on these forums named something like "another magical chase on ebay". In it, you should be able to find a pretty detailed account of MC's price climb from 3 to four figures since 2007.

Holy Shit!! I'd hate to see what you guys would say to that buyer!

Keep in mind there are only around 300 copies of US Magical Chase potentially in existence.  Probably less as some no doubt have been lost or destroyed over time.

And then you have the people that have it, but will never let it leave their collection, so take those off of the number as well. 300 was much less than I expected though. Watch what this sells for in a couple more years...

I remember buying MC new when it came out and selling it when I was a broke and pennyless college student in the late 90's on ebay for about $96.00 if I remember correctly (also sold a mint condition Vasteel, complete with slip cover for $34.00 around the same time...)

Yeah, I wish held on to it and it would be nice to have it as the center piece of my gamming collection today, but I never thought any TG16 stuff would ever be worth anything.  Wrong!

On the plus side of things, after I sold the games it gave me a break from Ramen Noodles for a while when I was in college.

On the plus side of things, after I sold the games it gave me a break from Ramen Noodles for a while when I was in college.

That's sad... mewmewmew, me sawry.

Ramen makes the world go 'round.

Also... like your avatar, is that Cool World, by chance?

where's that figure from benby? :)

Ya beams don't say that, or to anyone as now it's going up to $8 grand on eBay :P

I heard that number was inflated and about 5 2/3 copies exist.

I think that 300 number was from the print run thread we had a while back, where some employee knew things that no one else knew.  Specifically, the game sold poorly, most were returned and destoyed...  as was common practice w/ excess stock.

Anyone who pays 5000$ for a game is an idiot.   Go buy the Japanese one.  Who cares if the graphics "aren't as good"

the games still just as run of the mill.

Tough guy?  Calling you an idiot for obvious reasons doesn't make me a tough guy.   It's just me calling you an idiot.

Settle for shit?  It's the same game with "better" graphics, depending on your taste.    The gameplay is the same either way, and the game is not really that great either way, either.

As for "I can't read that shit"

It's a f*cking horizontal shooter.   What do you need to read?  You're just demonstrating that you're a giant poseur.

you also are starting to sound like Nintega or Validus.

It is indeed insane. Believe me, id much rather get it cheaper, but really isn't an option at this point. I need it and it's going to cost me a lot of money to get.

Just a lot right now...HuCards an't gold or real estate <- things that have always held real world worth. I believe in the system of supply and demand, the collectors(aka demand) will die or move on to other things to collect. I remain loyal to the one true god and wait it out.

Plus, MC is just one game and there is so much more on Turbo to play...("One woman, with many faces")

Yes.  Oddly enough I've never seen the movie!

It sucked IMO. Granted the traditional animation is smooth, but as a whole, the movie just wasn't good. Bakshi has done much better work than Cool World; Fire and Ice being a good example.

Mossman, if you had read the link I had posted in the first page: https://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=9653.0
the response from the other members on your thread should not have been surprising.

Like others have said, most of us resent the the state the turbo market is in. People like you are part of the problem who are willing to pay almost anything for games.

If you are truly a fan of this system, demonstrate it by participating in the discussions. If you are here just to acquire or peddle your games/warez, then just leave!

And LOL @ "I need it".  The fiscal irresponsibility demonstrated by today's youngin's is staggering.  Just because you have the ability to pay for something does not mean that you can "afford" it or should buy it.  And please trust me when I tell you that no one here is going to sell you that game.  First of all, get the f*ck in line.  Second, no one here is going to sell it to someone who just wants it for shelf-candy, especially when that person is some lurking poser who only collects Turbo shit to be incrementally cooler than their too-cool-for-school friends who think that they're being "different" for playing NES instead of modern games.

My financial situation is great. I don't need tips from you, but thanks anyway. You know why I have the money to spend? Because I have no vices other than video games. I buy to play but even if the games suck, I keep them. I'm one game away for the complete us hucard collection and it happens to be the most expensive one. What do you want me to do to get it? BBBBBZZZZZZTTTTTT.  Wrong.  If you were buying it to play it, you'd just stick with the Japanese version.  At least be honest with yourself about why you're buying it.  Firstly, to look at on the shelf, and secondly because you think you can flip it for more money in a few years.

Which if I could, then it would be a good investment. Fortunately, I don't have to sell shit because I don't need the money. If something were to happen and it depended on the wellness of my family, then f*ck yes I would sell it. But it would be sold at a loss if need be as well. I just played the Japanese version because I got it in today. It's pretty good gameplay wise, but I can't obviously read any of it. Again, it's easy to sit here and talk shit, but if you actually knew me personally, you would respect the things I do. Don't pretend to know me bud, because you don't.

That's fine, but again I'll say that you are on a fool's errand here.  As has already been stated, the Turbo market has gone crazy because people like you are willing to pay whatever because you "need" these games.  Just about all of us here maintain game libraries because we love old games, not because we collect them like stamps.  Because when they game becomes that valuable, it's no longer practical to spend the money when all you want to do is play it.  Especially when it's Japanese counterpart is so much cheaper.  Or you could just buy a Turbo Everdrive, which would allow you to play it (in English) while still having the Japanese version to fill the hole in your collection.  So anyone who is willing to spend $5k on a game is either:

A: Filthy Rich.
B: Incredibly irresponsible.
C: Speculating.

Unless you're "A", you aren't going to get much play here.  As has already been pointed out to you, we tend to resent people like you for the reason that I and others have already stated.  You would be better off taking your request somewhere like the Neo-Geo forums, or just wait until one pops up on eBay.

Mister Moss,

I'm writing to you because I have been in your shoes. I know you meant no offense by your presence here or your enquiry as to the acquisition of the "white whale", if you will. For some reason, or no reason, you have found yourself in the cross hairs of many prominent individuals in this community. You didn't intend for this to happen, but you're no pushover so you're not going to let this go unchecked.

You are justified in your desire to defend your desire to possess Magical Chase. I envy your disposable income, and I'm certain you are something akin to a rocket surgeon. I am, too, but all of my millions were wrapped up in the development of the Magical Chaise. Perhaps you saw it a few posts up? It is still for sale.

Anyway, i just wanted to let you know that the very people who are attacking you are awesome guys. If you enjoy gaming more than collecting, you and they will get along. I enjoy both, but have the resources for neither (my time and trust were donated to aids research and time travel). The advice you are receiving, nay, being force fed... like it or not, is not going to change. A $5k complete magical chase is possible. But pursuing the hunt here will not be productive. I don't personally fault you for trying. This forum has its own set of social norms that don't exactly come intuitively to many (myself included).

Just stick around, obey, and find Magical Chase some other day. We will celebrate your fortune on that day, because we'll all be buds by then. Or not. Choose your own adventure, y via condios, amigo.

Sincerely,
null

edit: goddamn... I need to get faster at phone typing. You already posted like a bazillion nanoseconds ago...

Thank you very much, great advice and thanks for understanding what I was intending to do. I appreciate your words!

certainly didn't wan't to be an a$$hole here, just the your mentioned point of not understanding the even so little text in a pure shoot 'em up is beyond my understandings as a valid point. certainly not worth of paying like 30x more for a game that is already expensive in its original form imho. if it were an RPG e.g. it would be whole different rabbit hole for sure.

Well said ;) You dont want to get on the wrong side of certain peoples on the forums, you will be instantly put on ignore ;)..  for what its worth though i think 5k is insane though.. it maybe the "market rate" ( ebay rate that is ) but man its a hard one to accept.  id never have owned the game myself if i didnt get lucky with my wife finding it for sale on Yahoo Japan of all places, and i kick myself now for turning down complete versions i saw on there at the same time for 250 USD not that many years ago.. 5k buys alot of stuff ( and yes im taking about the us versions, how they got to japan i dont know )

You might like to speak to an ex member called wmac, he too put up some large offers and eventually walked away with a sealed version for something like 5k, he collections seems to come and go quickly so maybe the right offer would see him sell his copy or he may know someone who knows someone who will part with the game..

Just stick around, obey, and find Magical Chase some other day. We will celebrate your fortune on that day, because we'll all be buds by then. Or not. Choose your own adventure, y via condios, amigo.

Sincerely,
null

certainly didn't wan't to be an a$$hole here, just the your mentioned point of not understanding the even so little text in a pure shoot 'em up is beyond my understandings as a valid point. certainly not worth of paying like 30x more for a game that is already expensive in its original form imho. if it were an RPG e.g. it would be whole different rabbit hole for sure.

It's cool. I did order the PCE Cotton because I heard that all you have to do is press the select button at the main menu and it switches to English text which I think is great!

You're basically the outsider, looking in.    The random dude in the corner that is suddenly trying to act like he's been here the whole time, and wants to get in on some shit.

My suggestions are:

1) Play the Japanese one.  It's the same shit.  If you need English in a shooter, I question your education and brain functionality in general.
2) Save the 5000$ to buy something much more useful.
3) Play all of the other games the PC Engine has to offer, because Magical Chase is at the middle of the list of "shit you should play sometime soon"

It's overrated.   People notice it because of the pricetag.   If it were a throwaway 10$ game, nobody would give a f*ck.

It's Cotton for retards.

But now let me ask this, with this waiting line, does the game ever change hands between members here? And if so, what is it sold for? How do you guys base the prices?

Heh, I remember the flack I caught on another board for winning a sealed NES Bonk's Adventure on eBay back in 2002. It wasn't like I went on the board and asked for it; someone linked the auction then saw I was the highest bidder then shit ran like water splashed into my face. Ah... good times. lol

A.   The line is just a joke.
B.  Yes it changes hands here.
C.  I sold a Magical Chase with manual to another member here for $750. He can speak up if he wishes.
D.  Price is based on whatever the seller feels like.

Games of many prices ranges to collectors are given away free (including shipping) all the time here. This isn't an investment portfolio community like some "retro" game forums and is not comparable.

That "waiting line" is a joke around here, although it was created seriously by someone like you who just had to have a "complete" "collection".

Maybe he hasn't posted here over the years much for the same reason I haven't. Because whenever he did post he was bombarded by rude comments and people who try and make you feel stupid. I'm a member of pretty much every popular video game forum out there. And this forum is by far the least welcoming of the bunch. Not very homely here till you are accepted. I love the Turbo and right now that's the only reason I come here. Hopefully that will change someday.

If he wants to spend tons of money on a game that's his decision. Maybe he makes 2k a week and can afford it. Is there seriously a wait list for Magical Chase? You can't just assume people are going to know all the rules around here regarding getting in line for a expensive game.

People just need to relax !round here and welcome people, and explain things to them in a courteous manner.

Don’t generalize man, as a lot of new comers come and are welcomed here with open arms, it is a small hand full that get in trouble and a lot of time it is lack of common sense…

"oh look I am new here, I am going to sell my stuff at ebay prices" OR
"hey, I am sure this has not been asked but I want MC and I will pay top dollar"

Take the time and look around and use some common sense… geeezzzzz.

I don't believe that at all. I didn't get into the turbo grafx until 2011. So i knew practically nothing about the console. I joined this forum, and i was welcomed with open arms. I also took the time to do research and try to answer questions i had on my own, instead of just relying on others to answer everything for me. So maybe if you and OP actually participated it the forum (that's what a forum is for right) you wouldn't feel the way you do now.

so can i ask a really political question..

If a new person came to the forums, with a stack of hard to get items not just expensive but actually hard to get stuff and said openly, "hey guys im new here, im selling my collection, this seems to be the location that is interested in this gear, i want it to go to a person who will appreciate it, heres what i want price wise" and lets assume his prices were close to ebay prices.  would you

1. be pissed off, abuse the guy for ebay pricing and not buy his goods.
2. be pissed off, talk to the guy try and offer something you felt comfortable paying
3. be happy that you had a chance to maybe buy that very hard to find item and not have to compete with ebay trolls and the chance of the price sky rocketing even further?

I think i know which category a large proportion of people will fall into, im just interested to see. :)

I'm not defending anyone. I don't even know that guy. And even though this is some old post or whatever I still feel like what I said applies to some new members and should be taken into consideration by some of the members here. People should treat people the way they would want to be treated and not say anything they wouldn't say to their face at all.

And who cares if I posted on the neo forums? Im a long time member there. I own valuable items of equal rarity of magical chase and dynastic hero. Do you own Samurai Showdown V Special or a dedicated Neo Geo Arcade Cabinet to trade to a neo geo member? Is there a rule here that we can't look elsewhere for rare titles? What about eBay? Do I need permission here to bid on EBay? What about in the wild? If I find Dynastic Hero in the wild must I get an OK from members here before purchasing?

I hope so Galem. I was thinking the other day how awesome it would be to try and get a Columbus Ohio TurboCamp meetup in the works like we do on the neo forums. Sometimes they can be a lot of fun. Just a bunch of dudes, a pc engine, a duo tap and some serious gaming and competition. We had epic Magical Drop and Last Blade matches in Neo meetups in the past. Some dungeon explorer 2 arena action would be awesome cause I have no Idea what it is.

People should treat people the way they would want to be treated and not say anything they wouldn't say to their face at all.
If I spent 5000$ on one mediocre game, I would want people to call me a f*cktard until I understand.

Also, if I saw someone pay 5000$ in person for Magical Chase, I'd tell them they're a f*cking moron.   Guaranteed.    I'd point and laugh until they feel bad about it and wish they hadn't done it.  That way, maybe next time, they'll think a bit before they go HGNGNFDGNFD TAKE MY MONEY I NEED GAME.

Someone was asking 1200$ for a sealed Chrono Trigger at a game convention up here in Cleveland, and I laughed at him and called him a "f*cking dumbdick", right to his face and pointed and laughed at him when the convention was wrapping up and he was putting it back in his bin to take home because nobody was dumb enough to buy it.

I don't get this thing on the internet where people who are getting flamed assume the people doing it wouldn't do it to their face.   I guarantee you basically everyone here would call someone stupid in person if this stuff was going on in front of them.    This forum is full of the most genuine people on any forum I've ever gone to.   What you see on here is what you get in person.  For the most part.

The point is, some people suck at money and do dumb shit with it just because they can.  They think OH ITS MINE I'M ENTITLED TO DO WHAT I WANT WITH IT.

...and they never stop to realize they are furthering the problem, because they're self centered.   It's irresponsible.  It's disrespectful.   It literally ruins the hobby for tons of people because it causes all the prices to go up, which makes the entry price go up, which drives new people away.

also, I make enough that I could buy a Magical Chase for 5000$, no problem.

Doesn't mean I'm going to, because holyshit.  5000$ for one game is the definition of dumb.

as for what Haboobi said, it depends what a person is selling.   If you show up here with some srs as f*ck one of a kind items, or ACTUALLY hard to find/valuable items, I'd be ok with the expected prices that will be obnoxious.   If you want collector/ebay prices for stuff anyone could go find, I'd be sure to point out that the prices suck, and would haggle.  Assuming they have something I want.   If they are adamant about shit prices, even after the advice of many, you can expect me to tell that person they're a dumbass.

The fact that Magical Chase costs more than the Develo books + Box + an MSX to run it all on, AND a PC Engine Duo to go with all of it, proves that people are complete idiots and don't understand what they are doing.

and if you don't like being called an idiot, stop being an idiot.

It's pretty simple.

EDIT: Also.

https://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=16241.0

This.    This is what you cunts with no self control are doing to gaming.   Even the Japanese are becoming hip to the fact that round eye is a f*ckhead and will pay just about anything for a shiny game that isn't worth dick.

Soon, we will have nowhere to find games at reasonable prices, and it will be all of you that get the blame.

I used to think mc was expensive when I saw it for 250, I swore I wouldnt/couldn't spent that money on a single game,  I'd jump on one for 250 now.  I remember I paid 60 for the magical chase manual, at the time i was going to turn it down, seemed stupid to spend 60 on a manual, wtf is wrong with me spending that, now I'd pay that to get one in the condition I'd like.   In another few years I hate to think what mc will cost.  I guess what I don't understand is if people think mc isn't a good game, then do you really care what it sells for, if just one game in a collection was as expensive as mc, but is a shitty game, then does it matter?  Or is it just that its shitty due to the price :).

The problem I have is other games going up in price, so if the price increases were just around mc then really it's just going to impact the collector who wants a complete set, not the player who wants to play the good games.  I'd take rtype or tonma game play wise over mc any day of the week.

People who don't think its good and do want it, want it for one of two reasons.

1. To complete a English collection.
2. Because some people just want anything rare.

Both of which in my opinion are not good reasons. I hate when people say " I want that game, it's just so rare." Games are meant to be played not displayed. That's why I hate sealed collecting and VGA grading bull $h1t.

As far as rare Turbografx games and prices are concerned, it's not going to get better. People can complain about people raising prices with impulse eBay purchases, but it is the destiny of the games to climb in value, at least as long as there is working hardware to enjoy it. And with the rapid progression of clone consoles this may not be in our lifetime. We are having this exact discussion over at Digitpress, and its not just Magical Chase and Dynastic Hero. Its all rare or good games, specifically RPG's and SHMUPS. Many games have doubled up to 5X. Panzer Dragon Saga, Hagane, Earthbound, Shining Force CD, Keio Flying Squadron, and pretty much every Neo Geo AES & MVS title. Video games are following the same paths as all collectable items. Comics, baseball cards, vinyl records, coins, etch

If MC or Dynastic Hero raise in price so what. Because unlike all those SNES common RPG squaresoft titles and Earthbound, at least they are genuinely rare titles. If any games deserve to be insanely priced it's these 2 games. Actual rare games commanding high prices is not annoying, its expected as is any rare collectible item. Things could be much worse, try collecting Beatles records on vinyl, or 1950'svand earlier baseball cards. What is annoying are effing Nintendo fan boys driving up extra common good games like Chrono Trigger, every Final Fantasy, and Earthbound.

These are dark days for getting into game collecting. Especially with the economy. Would you rather spend 20 bucks at the movies for 2.5 hours? Or invest $50.00 in a rare retro game worth unlimited hours of enjoyment? People want the most cost effective bang for their buck and reliving your childhood is the perfect way to do so. But once you get a taste of retro gaming you always look for that next fix. That's when people tend to get out of hand and start spending crazy amounts.

I'd take rtype or tonma game play wise over mc any day of the week.

lol@completing English collections.

The problem is, many people with money are ignorant as balls about this stuff.   Like I said, it's self centered.

and people who buy rare ass games aren't reliving their childhood because most of them are f*ckups that never played the game in their youth, so there is no nostalgia.   Just pure stupidity.

The only game I'd be willing to pay $5k for would be PC Cocoron. Then again, I'd spend 100 times that for that game, if I had it to spend. It's going to be lost forever and that makes me sad. :( Magical Chase wouldn't get $50 out of me.

PC Cocoron is a different story.   Especially because if anyone here bought it, it would quickly turn into a boot project so everyone can have the goddamn game instead of one a$$hole that won't give it up.

I don't have a burning desire to own MC. But I do Dynastic Hero again. Put a complete copy of each in my face and tell me to take one for free and it would be Dyna without a thought. As far as why I want it, It actually was a game from my late childhood. I originally picked up MC and Dyna right after high school late 1999 early 2000. It was a point in my life when I was young (19), had a full time job, and living at home before deciding to make the move to Columbus OH to attend Ohio State  University. Now when turbo first came out I was very young, but did score one without a cd unit. Only had Keith courage, China warrior, and Dungeon explorer. The turbo and the neo were the 2 consoles that growing up were hard to obtain. When I picked up MC , dyna, and pretty much every other rare English title around 2000, I spent a long time enjoying them. Magical Chase was a game I enjoyed very much. I even wrote a faq, along with dungeon explorer 2. Sadly I lost the Magical Chase faq but managed to find the Dungeon Explorer 2 Faq and post it on gamefaqs.com years later. I personally would give MC 4 turbo chips out of 5. And I would love to own it again in some form. But 2k is ridiculous. However I have a bunch of sought after games and would be willing to trade toward one if I had the chance. That is why I posted on the neo forums. If I ever have a chance of getting either game it would be there because of the stuff I am willing to trade. I will probably just get the  Japanese version since I already ordered a turboeverdrive. It is pretty dumb to pay 2k cash for a game, and if I remember the graphical uphaul is only the first level.

the graphical upgrade is also not really that important, all things considered.

It's also a like, 45 minute game.  It's hardly even worth the JP pricetag anymore.

You get dumb looking bridges and a better looking castle instead of out of place tetris blocks and a rape-barn in the background.   Whoopeeedooooo, lol.

Just get the JP one and put it in a USA box from Sparky.   Done.  Nobody will know!

You prove a valid point. It is super short. And quite easy. I would rather play gate or lords of thunder anyday. It will be a long time till I get a Japanese copy. It will prolly be 1k by then cause there are too many good super CDs to get first and I can't everdrive those.

OP seems like a decent enough fellow, so if getting the game makes him happy, then good for him.  I personally don't get the need to buy a $5k game that you can just play on original hardware using a flash cart, nor do I get the need to have a "complete" collection of anything.  Now that the Turbo Everdrive is a thing, I really don't give a rip how much HuCards cost because I'm done buying them unless a good deal comes along (I already have a nice-sized library of games).  The bummer for me is the CD games like Dungeon Explorer II and Dynastic Hero, because I prefer not to play burns.

Not only that, but I am also under the impression that it's incomplete. There is enough combined talent in the PCE homebrew scene to complete what's missing. I wouldn't call Yuko an a$$hole, just your typical art collector who refuses to share with the world. Although it's his right to do this... just like in the art world, holding a piece from the rest of the world is the surest possible way to allow it to be lost in time.

Nebulously I'd be happy to own Magical Chase.  I've played the rom a bit and it seems okay.  I wouldn't rate it as high as I would, say, Blazing Lazers, but I'd be happy to run through it a few times on a real console.  I think if it was a common game that would likely be the overwhelming sentiment.  It's pretty fun, it's got a really nice look to it, and it's interesting enough for a playthrough every so often.

Do any of you think this Magical Chase rarity nonsense would be happening if Magical Chase wasn't the last game put out for the TG-16?  Imagine it was Deep Blue or some other shitty game.  Deep Blue is now the last game ever put out for the TG-16.  No way is anyone buying that turd of a game for $5K.  No way does it become the "holy grail" for US collectors.

MC is a decent game.  It's colourful, it's fun.  It is not worth the price.  Hell I don't know if it was worth the original price back in the 90's.

$4,400. I'm sure that no deal to any of you. I didn't mind it and I'm happy to add it. I play most of what I have, but I collect everything from the NES up. Now I have found some good games cheap, but I've also paid some high prices. Never bought a game for more that a few hundred, this was a once in a lifetime thing. Also, I obviously do care what you guys say/ think or I would have posted this before.

Moss, you probably should provide the price paid. Even though the price you paid may seem  unreasonable now, it may very well end up being the going rate in the near future. Other people who are looking to purchase the game will need accurate prices of sales to go by, in order to determine a fair price in the future. Or your price paid could end up being way too much and end up getting factored out. Either way it is important to potential future buyers.

MC is like 23 windows busses. guys want them, cause others do too. has nothing to do with function. vw busses were shit when new, and are not worth the 100k they ask and get for them. i decided long ago, that 5-10 k was stupid for a VW, its still just a VW piece of shit.

haha, of all the comments in this thread, this one probably made me laugh the most.  What on earth are you talking about?!

I think the real question is has this guy enjoyed this game yet cause I would have beat that shit like 20 times by now. Or is it sitting in a fireproof box becoming a born again virgin?

Really man? Yeah it was short, but I enjoyed it. Wasn't the best game I ever played because that goes to Dracula X....but it was good. What does it matter what I'm doing with it now? I paid for it so I can shoot the f*cker if I feel like it.

I'm just a firm believer in that games should be played. Glad you took it for a test run!

Yeah they should be played. That's why you don't see any world championship carts or stadium events in my collection.

Congrats, man! You've captured a unicorn, enjoy the ride. ( :

If you have another few $K burning a hole in your pocket, keep me in mind.  I'll hook you up with a rare sealed classic that is sure to be the crown jewel of any collector's collection!

(Disclaimer: I really am happy for you , man. Not many of us will ever own a full set, and you just cleared the tallest hurdle in that race.)

Hahaha! Thank you! Unfortunately I already have that one. It was on clearance for $3K. Maybe I should buy yours though because it has been blessed by being in your possession!

that MC looks in real good shape. congrats on the score. I still couldn't fathom spending that much on that game, but kudos to you for having the funds to do so.

Here you go my love..........

Thanks for sharing.. would be nice if you could do some nice scans of everything for community preservation.

I hope you enjoy the game!

munchiaz: $600 seems high (assuming you are just talking about a boxed system and the 5 sgx games minus the two Darius games).

While I am not that Jar Jar thing I can totally do his voice and annoy the shit out of my friends. Sometimes I get hit, that's when I switch to robot voice. :3
