Hey, I know someone here made an insert for this game that was the Duo pack-in. I seem to remember a few of em actually, and I THOUGHT I had saved all that mess... Can someone point me in the right direction? ](*,)
-
I found a couple I had saved in a folder on my PC. Here ya go.

Hahaha loved the 1st one with its references to Johnny Turbob. Indeed it has the "arcade feel". :)

I think the "f*cking Awesome" can now officially be attributed to Chris Bucci. :)

Rolf Lundgren

There was a 3-Column version a few years ago. That one was pretty nice too but I can't seem to find it.

Thank you so much. I was going to print my own disc case insert by using a photoshop template, but yours can't be topped.

How is it that nobody has made a funny about the title of this thread?
Ouch.

These are pretty cool, did anyone get them printed up on the same kind (or similar) card stock for authenticity? For years I have suffered not knowing which of my two label-less games was Ys Book I & II and which was my Gate of Thunder 4-in-1 CD! Speaking of which, did someone make one for Ys? I got mine with my Turbo Duo, so now that I think of it, I actually don't know if the original release of Ys has a proper back insert. I assume it does, right?
-
Sparky has professionally printed inserts for both GoT and Ys: clicky (http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=9393.0). Also, the retail version of Ys did indeed come in a complete case with back insert (and a map!).
-
Thanks for the link! I'll have to think about ordering a couple some time. Oh man, a map too? I didn't get the CD-ROM attachment at all so I didn't even have a reason to buy CD games until I got the Duo, so I missed that boat. I'm not too heartbroken about it though!
-
The map is neat but not at all helpful or necessary to play the game. If you'd like to print out your own or just take a peek at it, Paul has a good scan of it available here (http://www.pcengine.co.uk/HTML_Games/Ys_I_II.htm) (scroll down to 'images').

What would I do without Nullity's daily posts...

Thanks for the peek! I have beaten Ys I & II dozens of times on various consoles (most recently on Steam), but it's cool to see it.

I thought about editing my typo, but yall seem to be enjoying it.. lol.

Answer: Yes.
-
I can see it now:
The ship gets really hot and as the engines shrivel, the pilot (white suit and all) ejects from the cockpit at 30mph.

Keith - give people credit when you repost their stuff.
Also, that's the old version and it's strangely low-res. I did some fixes a year later. Here's the original thread with proper PDF and TIF downloads in full res:

These look really good, thank you for making them! (Even if it was a while back and I'm late to the party) What's the ideal kind of card stock for printing these on? I've had a couple of my old games and music CDs have the inserts shrivel/wrinkle up due to cheap paper and I'm sure moisture just from living in swampy Maryland.
-
I laser print on 110lb card stock (no gloss) and lightly score the bend line for a nice, crisp corner.

Thanks, I'll try that!
-
The stock on real SCD inserts isn't very heavy. I think the waviness problem is that most consumer printers use too much ink (more $$ for Epson). I printed mine at Kinkos on regular gloss. Looks great, feels almost like the real thing, and no warping or waviness since 2008.
-
Answer: No.
-
The only waviness I've really noticed lately is a Legendary Axe manual I have, none of my Japanese games have this problem and all still look pretty great. I can't seem to find my Alien Crush (I'll be heartbroken if I can't find it!) and Keith Courage box but I wonder if it's just a deal with early US game manuals. My Blazing Lazers looks alright, not perfectly crisp but pretty good shape. Trying to flatten the Legendary Axe one under a pile of books right now.
Some of my old Son May CD inserts have collapsed in on themselves, too, so I figure it's just what quality paper you choose.

Can't find your Keith Courage box? Don't worry, no one else can find theirs either.

Holy shite! This would actually be a fun project: design a cardboard box for Keith Courage.
OK, I'm easily amused. Still, I actually like the comic-book style art for KC. I think the package design could look really kool. Too kool for the actual game, in fact.
-
Oops, I meant the manual, not the box. Pretty sure there was a manual. I know it didn't come with a box.

I am working on it rad of con :)

Yes, Keith had instruction manual, comic book, and a round sticky-sticker (instead if a plastic clip) to hold the HuCARD inside the jewel box.

I got my copy with the original TG-16, I can't remember exactly because it's gone MIA and I'm kinda wondering where it is. It's been a while but I remember having it in a jewel case like the rest of my games. I don't remember the sticker you are talking about but you make me wanna find that comic again!
Now Ninja Spirit, which if you bought separately surely had it's own box. But I remember pretty clearly that you got only the card and the manual with the TurboDuo.

^^ almost brought a tear to my eye.
I was lucky enough to find a truly complete Keith Courage locally back in '09. I still need to read the comic. Sadly there is a big sticker on the front of the jewel case. Sounds like I need to get the hair dryer out.

Be careful with the hair dryer. Just ask Bernie. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)
