Sounds like history is about to repeat itself...

Yup, and as long as this thing has enough press, promotion and made up awards its won (Some ads say 50, even though it's not out yet) the dudebros will be all over this like flies on a decaying piece of meat emitting a bright light.
It also has all the people who have been calling for CoD's demise after it too. They think this'll finally buck the King of Brown Shooters from its throne. No doubt Activision's a little scared of it, launching a free MP demo for CoD:G this past weekend, but only this past weekend.
Is it just me or does this entire situation spell out everything that's wrong with the modern gaming industry?

It could turn out like this gem:

They are now giving Titanfall with new Xbone purchases. that's pretty high hopes for this one. Methinks Microsoft will be out of the console biz after this one.

Meh, while I "like" some FPS's, the fact that this game is multiplayer only is the nail in the coffin for me ever even remotely caring. Plus, the rest of the series is not exclusive to Xbone, only the first game in the series supposedly is.

And it's not only on Xbone, but also both PC AND 360. Microsoft screwed themselves over with this.

This is the first video I've watched of this game. I'm baffled that this is like the "next step forward" type of thing. And that the next gen games look like Call of Duty games with robots. It's still earlier for the xbox one but still.
And that whole online thing just makes it that much more lame. For me anyway. That just seems lazy.

Each generation the step up in graphics and performance has become less and less. To the point where I can't justify buying a next gen console. There just isn't enough value. I'm still happy with my 360, hell my Tg16 and NES for that matter lol. I won't buy something new until they shut off the 360 servers.

Not necessarily. I would argue more so about gameplay than graphics, somewhat. There are a lot more open-world games in development than before, meaning the games can maintain the same or better great graphics, but also become so on a much larger scale. And framerate as well is key.

That is true as I adored both Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3, but if the game releases for xbone and 360 I'm going with 360. The only thing that would get me to switch at this point is another metroidvania like SOTN

Ill admit I play quite a bit of Call of Duty. Its fun mindless blow shit up get jacked on high paced adrenaline action that overall is pretty silly when you step back and look at it. (Kind of like that sentence I just wrote...) These games do have a place but they do get stale after a while... Ive played online since Modern Warfare 3 and really each new game doesnt bring much new... Just new maps to memorize and get good at. I play with a group of friends and thats really what makes the difference. Playing by yourself is lame. I bring up call of duty to make a point though... I played Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 on PS3. Both looked great and played fine. Now Im playing Ghosts on PS4... Like you guys said the improvements in graphics etc are quite minimal. I really couldnt tell until I compared it to the PS3 version side by side. Was it worth buying a PS4 for? Nope, not at all...
Regarding Titanfall... I might try it on PC but Ill be damned if Im going to spend $500 on another new console after more or less wasting $400 on the PS4... Now the Wii U.. That was good purchase Im having a blast with it.

I guess being a heavy pc gamer for so long I am just a bit jaded. This one looks like nothing more then COD/BF combined with Crysis in any gameplay vids I have seen. There isn't much here that has not been done before, and the visuals look like any other modern fps. Mech wise, well I mean between Hawken and Mechwarrior Online, well, as far as PC goes Titanfall is already behind the times. Thanks but no thanks.

I haven't played any FPS games on consoles that weren't called Resistance or Halo in quite a while, and I finally decided to give CoD Ghosts a try on PS4. The MP is pretty decent, but I will be honest that I really enjoy the Extinction mode. For some reason there is a mode where you fight aliens, which is right up my alley. I think the reason I am enjoying it is because I haven't played all the games in the series, but I do not think I will get another CoD for a while.
I do have to put out the disclaimer that my college years were spent playing Natural Selection, Counter-Strike, and Half Life. Oddly enough I also played CoD 2 quite a bit on PC, that was the last CoD I played.
PS - I am getting Titanfall tomorrow lol I am on a FPS kick which I am sure will fade soon, then I will get back to playing more Wii U and old games. It is nice not playing a genre for a long time so it feels temporarily fresh.
...that reminds me of my FF XIII experience.

It is not just you.
The last few years I grew disgusted of the Xbox platform, the way it's been comercialized, the lack of variety, etc. I just ended up pulling the ethernet cord from my X360. No way I'm buying anything from Microsoft ever again.
Sony are not saints either, the last two Sony consoles I got were the PSP and the PS2 and those were awesome. I skipped the PS3 and the way things are going, I'll surely skip the PS4.
