I love how you freeze in mid-air when you hold II + I together. Wow what a glitchy game.

I couldn't pass from the frog thingy part in the underground cave, can't jump to the next area.

I swear I'll write up how to play it later
You get an item from the frog, go over to the lake and use the item to cross the like :)

I beat this game about a year ago and once you know what to do it's actually  a very fast paced game and can be fun.
Here's the FAQ I used to figure out how to use the menus and Items
http://www.gamefaqs.com/tg16/579437-energy/faqs/24796

There's about 5 or 6 key points you need to accomplish to keep moving.
Another big tip is just avoid most the enemies unless the rooms lock and then you have to clear them all. There are a couple enemies that leave health though but they are always in the same spot so once you get the hang of it and know where they are just kill those ones.

MINI WALKTHROUGH

Get weapon upgrade from the box, switch to it from the menu (second icon in the top row)
Fight two slimes at the bottom of the cave, get the whistle (second item on bottom row)
Cross water by using whistle by selecting item, exit menu by pushing II then I+II to use whistle
Climb to bottom of vine area, go to next screen left and climb up to a boss fight or skip it if its too hard and go back later with vertical shot(beat boss by climbing vine and shooting left) get more powerful shot (red dot in menu)
Go left, the green guys with red stuff in their mouths blow you up in the air, girl on right heals if you hear her sing or something.
Float to top and talk to the three dudes till you get the green potion thing next to the whistle
Talk to eyeball girl, use green potion
Get present at end of subways (vertical shot) then use pillar back at beginning of subway to climb to top of subway and go to the end, drop down to next area
Go left immediately, talk to old guy, go left kill yellow monster twice on far left screen for more life
Advance to lava area, get blue present that has the necklace, use right away so you don't die from the heat
Advance to the right, kill boss on ceiling with vertical shot, get green necklace
Leave lava area, kill yellow rolling guys again 2x for more life in the next screen
Go back to the lake, drop into the whirlpool
Rescue green hair kid
Go back to the beginning of the game and talk to the creature with the crazy arms, use the necklace with the gem
Take the third pole down, drop into the teleporter, climb the meat things till you get to the boss fight
Kill boss by dropping down and shooting when he goes to back of screen, then jump back up, get glasses
Leave this area because this is where the end of the game is, instead go back to the beginning and back down in to the underground area, back across the subway , drop down the pole again

.......aaaaaand that's enough for me tonight I'll finish the rest tomorrow :)

Ok now once you drop down, use the glasses, kill the boss guy
Go right kill next boss
Go back to the beginning of the game, keep going left
Go down first pole, kill the enemies till you get the red potion then to restore your life
Go down third hole, go to green statues to teleport
Keep going right, shoot down the fire balls,
Go to last boss, Select computer icon from bottom row, press I+II to call your friends who will make the last boss a piece of cake
Kill it
The end!
You just beat one of the most infamous PCE games!!!

Holy crap, I haven't played this game in so long.(http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgsad.png)

There's a reason.

Such cool cover art, and such a disappointing game.

I kind of enjoy Energy, it's got that late '80s/early '90s PC game charm that I like.  The long scroll time between screens is really the worst thing about the game...

Hey it's not that it doesn't have an ending. After fighting in Vietnam, Colombia and the Panama Channel, you realize that there is no "ending". It's a never ending battle where you go from proxy war to proxy war, against indistinguishable enemies in familiar terrain, and it ends only when someone puts you out of your misery.

Or not. At least it is better than BALLISTIX.

I've heard that before... but I find it quite interesting that Japanese computer games are a lot like Western ones from around that time.  Were they playing Western computer games or something, or is it a coincidence?

Blarg, @&#%$!!! This game would be great if it would maybe take a little longer to scroll between screens.  ](*,)

Definitely an odd one... I gave it a chance, but I just don't think it's for me.
