Listing what I am willing to spend, is not always a great idea. I am sure that there are people on here just looking to turn a profit. I am looking to deal with collectors who can understand the struggles of trying to finish....

Curious Boom,

1-When did you get into the Turbografx?  2-Did you at one time own the above gems you're seeking?  3-Have you played them in an emulator?  If 3 = Yes->  4-After trying them you decided you NEED them?

5- Never played them, just heard they were worth $$$ and need them for collection.

Note: If you answered yes to #5 you should be warned that a majority of the 'regulars' around here are actual gamers and not so much about collecting the rarez/OMG $$$ games.

There are oodles of fantastic games on the Turbo/PCE that are far more readily available at a fraction of the cost of your want list.  :)

Alright here we go. I had this system when I was a kid. Went into the military and my pops tossed it all in the trash. Got back into it in 01 and have been on a mission to finish what I started. I hate dealing with sellers that are just trying to turn a buck. I have been lucky to find collectors that have to part with their jems for one reason or another and have gotten great deals over the years. So I have been into this solid for over 13 years now.

But you have not answer the whole question yet. Did you have the five games in your WTB thread at one point? And have you played them before?

So you've played most of them on an emulator. What about the other ones you haven't played yet. Why do you want to buy those if you haven't tried them out yet?

How difficult is it to locate Super Air Zonk  these days? Hell, I've been searching for a complete King of Casino for a year now, and haven't gotten a whiff yet. I can't imagine SAZ being that much more elusive.

Who cares how hard it is to find Super Air Zonk. The games not even really good. Just buy the Japanese one for $50, play it once or twice, and go back to the far superior Air Zonk

I think SAZ is pretty decent. Not on par w/ AZ but a solid shooter throughout.

I cannot imagine anyone playing Super Air Zonk and then after saying "Damn, this is worth $200!"  I just don't get that.  I understand my opinion is messed up in some people's eyes, but it's so just an average shooter or even a little below average...

meh, meh, meh....

If SAZ were a $2 giveaway, would you play it and think "Wow, this is the best shewty evah!  Only two bucks!!!"?  Of course not.  I agree that it's at best average, but its price isn't relevant.
Title: Re: Looking to buy these duo games...Anyone???

I have all of those......None are very good.  BS isnt worth 50.00 IMO.  SAZ is fun but not worth what i paid or remotely close to what its going for now.  Its on ebay a lot lately for 600.00.  Terraforming is also neat.....again not with the money.  DH i cant comment on since i have 20 minutes of gameplay but I can guarentee its not worth what I paid.

Take my advise.......buy the japanese versions and put your money into something more productive.  Its sad to see people in such a hurry to try and get these games before they continue to get more expensive.  just a year ago most of those were 250.00 each except BS which was 300. and DH which was all over.  Today they are all 450+ due to ebay.  They are not worth it, just having a collection the way you want it is not worth that kind of money.  If you make 140k its easy to say oh well and go back in the living room, if you dont, its going to sting a lot.

...and why are you here?  Most here that are regulars and have these games play them.  They don't want to sell them.  If they did it sure as shit wouldn't be the going rate of ebay or other sites that have no real clue to what the price should be.  Actually, we've had members here raffle off games like Bonk 3 US HuCard.  I sold my Beyond Shadowgate for $60, Vasteel complete for $65, and Might and Magic 3 complete with map for barely over $100.  That price was offered to me first before I even put it up for sale.

Yeah that's called friendship. I loved the forums because of this "circle of friends" mentality when I discovered it in 2013 looking for PCE Assembly programming. I have nothing against forums like Nintendo Age but their comic book collector mentality pisses me off sometimes...

I also participate in various other forums from my country, where I can always find games in a decent price and I usually sell my games for cheap too (some people call it "hobo helps hobo" lifestyle lol). These communities are the only reason I'm still in this eternal war of retrogaming, not only because of the non-gouging but also because you can have friendship in tighter communities. We always organize meetings, we get to know each other while having a barbecue & talking trash.

I came to this forum for a few reasons. First to learn more about things I could not get answers for any where's else. Second to maybe be able to share any info I might have and maybe help others who are looking for stuff people might not have. Lastly, being unable to find these games to play or even have without a astronomical amount of money spent. Playing on an emulator just is not the same feeling you get when you are playing on the system you grew up with. Now I am not sure if this question was regarding me but I chose to state where I came here anyways....

this.

I've not been here long enough to have had any transactions quite that amazing, but mister BMW himself has hooked me up a couple of times now and I hope someday I can repay the favor.

The "between friends" part is key. If you know anything of the history of this board, you'll know that these "friend" prices have been exploited and items turned for profit on eBay or elsewhere. If you really love the system and are not a giant dickbag, chances are that you'll eventually become friends with a lot of the crowd. I think the unspoken rule is "keep it in the community". Such trust is hard to earn.

If you want to go to ebay and pay the going price for a game, awesome. Nobody be grudges you for that (other than the effect it'll likely have of continuing to drive the market price upward). A lot of the old timers don't want to see their copy of a game get taken out of the community and end up on ebay.  That is why so many raffles have the stipulation that the winner has to raffle a game they've won after they're done with it.

sure. There are holes in this logic. But that is the general sentiment around here..

You're here now, that's what matters. You're one of the good ones. Yay!

That's the great thing about the current state of Turbo gaming. You can play every HuCard on real hardware using the Turbo Everdrive and download and burn any CD game.

hey guys, great talk here..  Yes selling among friends is great.  I been looking to start off my collection and been going on ebay for common titles and get discourage when I see the prices.  Been itching to play legendary axe again and  lowest price on ebay is like $35..  I would like to get it complete for around 15-20 but don't know if that will happen.  Maybe with you guys if someone has a spare copy that don't mind parting with.
Thanks. !

Forums are the places to go these days to buy old games.  Tight-knit, self-policing communities like the one here are the best because not only do they offer great deals to real fans that love playing games, but they keep them out of the hands of resellers whenever possible.

The Nintendo Age crowd is very collector-based, but you can still get some great deals there from time to time.  The majority of gamers I've interacted with have always been good people who help out others like them.  It's a very inclusive group, despite what some media outlets have been saying recently.  It's the people that don't care about games at all and see them as the current, hot revenue stream that screw you over.  Ebay, barring small miracles like galam's Dynastic Hero (CURSE YOU, GALAM *shakes fist*) is pretty much over.

I just hope the prices continue to inflate quickly until the general gaming public is scared off and the bottom falls out.  Combine that with (hopefully) the new consoles taking off at some point or the emerging VR tech taking over the easily swayed general public's imagination and people move on from this "retro" kick.

PS - retro means to make something new in an old style.  Super Meat Boy is a retro game.  Old games are just old games.  I don't even think that's a battle worth fighting these days, though.  That word done changed.

The real problem seems to come from peoples need for greed. So in turn it drives up the cost of games and makes hard for anyone new to the system to buy anything other than commons. It always seems to get people riled up when games are listed for a high price. However so people have paid these prices so trying to get your money back makes it seem like you are trying to get e-bay prices. Every once and a while a game will be up there for a reasonable price which lasts all of 5 minutes. Most of the people here have been great to deal with. I have sold on here and only tried to get back the money I spent on my games. In some cases I have taking a loss to help others. That's ok too. Maybe one day I will get lucky and find the games I am looking for without taking out a bank loan....

Sometimes i feel like that place can be just as bad as eBay. But only sometimes. I've gotten a few decent deals from some nice people. So i feel it is still worth my time.
