Looking to get a copy of Ys Book I and II (preferably without the map for costs sake). I would like original case/manual though and i'm looking for the English version so that I can actually comprehend the text  .
Let me know if you have a copy that you'd be willing to part with!
Prefer to buy it from someone in the US to avoid any unnecessary shipping fees!
Thanks

There's a copy on e-bay in great condition now...

I was hoping to buy it off someone here on the forums. Is that the typical going price for the game?
edit: looks like a I missed it. I saw it last night, though and was tempted but thought i'd give the forums a shot.

I feel your pain. I was talking to a guy on e-bay 2 nights ago trying to score cotton and 2 of the Hawaiian disks and while we were on the phone the sold out from under me...
-
That is a fair price for the game. I have seen them as high as $100 in same condition...
-
You shouldn't pay more than $40 - $50'ish on eBay for a copy with manual and insert.
The OEM pack-in version is often sold as "complete" when really it is always very incomplete, from a common sense point of view.
-
It seems to vary on price depending on condition though. I have been following the e-bay listings for over 13 years and the price point is about right for what was listed.
-
I have a copy I would be willing to let go for $45. No insert. I'm afraid that's the best price I could do, but that includes shipping from Canada.
I also have Ys III if you're interested. Buy both for $100 shipped? :-k

I've been following online listings for Turbo/PCE games, including eBay once it began carrying the games, for 18 years. I don't know what you mean by "listed", but Ys I & II (and III) has consistently sold CIC in decent+ condition for $30'ish for the past couple decades.
Over the years I've encountered countless drama threads asking "Why can't I find Ys I & II (or often Ys III) for under $100!" Each time I say the same thing about what you can regularly find it for. It is only after being called a liar, do I usually bother doing a recent eBay search and have never not found results that back it up, even with normal things like droughts, spikes, etc.
My previous post was based on a very narrow search of recently sold copies on eBay, of which there are a lot that are CIC (including insert) which went for <$40 - $50'ish. But there were also "complete" copies like these:
$26 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/TURBO-GRAFX-16-YS-BOOK-1-2-GAME-AS-IS-/191011364572?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item2c792a1edc)
$29.99 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ys-Book-I-II-TurboGrafx-CD-Turboduo-/271361368303?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3f2e65e0ef)
Ys III CIC $29.99 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ys-III-Wanderers-From-Ys-Turbografx-CD-Turboduo-/271361370683?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3f2e65ea3b)
"As high as" prices are useless to buyers of complete-enough games-to-play. They're only meaningful to sellers looking to raise the price ceiling.
For example, if someone asks advice on what to pay for Keith Courage, telling them that they can buy it right now for $45 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Keith-Courage-in-Alpha-Zones-TurboGrafx-16-/281137813771?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item41751e990b) isn't helping them.

It's all about timing and who is selling it don't you think?...
-
I agree. Timing is key. Right now there are several Ys 3 out there, but they are all gouges
-
BTW.... Im in the market for Ys 3 :)

If the OP never gets around to posting again give me a holler.

Thanks for the offer, Quid! toymachine has the dibs on the Ys III. Being OCD about it, i'm going to see if I can get one with the insert but your price seems fair (especially with the included shipping from Canada) so I will certainly keep you in mind. I'm surprised this game isn't easier to find. Was Ys not an incredibly high selling game? Though I guess none of the TGCD library was ever really "high selling" in comparison to the more popular consoles of the time.

No problem. I didn't think you wanted the insert. I must have misread that. I'll talk to toymachine, but I don't think he'll be a fan of the shipping cost. I'd have to ask like $60 for Ys III. Nearly $10 of that is shipping.

I have an extra US copy of Ys from a lot I picked up recently. It looks to be in really good shape, with the manual, case, and insert.
I'd be glad to do $45 shipped for it... just shoot me a PM if you're interested. 8)

i'm looking for the English version so that I can actually comprehend the text
Is the PCE version in Japanese? For whatever reason I was led to believe that it was in English as well. And with that I was planning on buying the PCE version instead since it is cheaper.

No, the PC Engine version is definitely all in Japanese and came out before the Turbo version.
Ys IV has a fan translation.

You can (and should) go ahead and get copies of the recent CD homebrew games - Mysterious Song and Pyramid Plunder (among others).

Awesome, I haven't looked into PCE homebrew yet which is odd because i've payed a lot of attention to the Dreamcast and MD homebrew communities. Do you know if these games are still available for purchase? I went to what seemed to be the developers websites but it looks like both of those are sold out.
Thanks again

You can buy Pyramid Plunder here (http://www.aetherbyte.com/aetherbyte-pyramid_plunder_for_pc-engine_and_turbografx-16.html). He also has produced another homebrew CD game - Insanity for the TG-16/PC Engine (http://www.aetherbyte.com/aetherbyte-insanity_for_pc-engine_and_turbografx-16.html). If you contact him, he will probably give you a package deal with the 2 games together. Also, he is very near to releasing Atlantean - the first homebrew HuCard release! I believe that Mysterious Song may be either getting another press run soon or something, or you can add it to your WTB thread. Several members here bought multiple copies to support it. There are a couple other CD released homebrew games for TG-16/PC Engine as well. You can check the list here.
