I still have mine. The game is impossible to beat without this map, even if you've played through the game 10+ times like I have.  Strategy guides have nothing on this map.

Absolutely. This game is nearly impossible without the map.

Added to my wallpaper thread.  :)

(To prove its my map scan and not the one I posted the link to earlier - you can tell there is more of the bottom of the image showing; easy to see by the boat)

Heh-heh. Yeah man, ya know, I hate games where my short-term memory isn't good enough to get me by and I have to inconveniently stop gameplay in order to refer to a map... That's a bitch.

Gotcha thanks. I'll have to save this one and maybe just print it out myself.

We need the actual size of the map and then get someone to print up some sweet but cheap outputs of it!

this would be nice if put on cloth. Then placed in a frame to hang on the wall

I made a bootleg about a year ago when I got the game, its actually behind my monitor lol, here is a shot-
http://www.ektophase.com/TG16/Phase_YsPicOnWall1.jpg
The color is a bit off on this print though

Also saw this on my camera from when I was showing off my GC paintjob on tcp, not the best pic mind you but neat to see these black systems together http://www.ektophase.com/TG16/Phase_GCTGSat.jpg

I could look into making some prints at officemax or something, I was thinking slightly bigger than the original with the boarder from my wallpaper. This could also help set apart the original from the repro.
The original is 8.5 x 11 with no boarder and is printed on colored paper.
Any color you see is the papers color and the print is just black and white/monochrome as far as I can tell, I could be wrong.
A repro would most likely be printed on white paper so that is another way to tell.
I'm just not sure how I would ship it if I did make some..rolled up in a box perhaps.

Oops I forgot the apostrophe. I love how even NEC was confused about the game's name.

Ha, I was offering up my services in a joking manner but Phase you got the means as well so that sounds cool.

If it is a folded map you could just fold it like yours and it would make it easy to ship out, I may have some other options on stock if the colour is more a yellow but not to take away from your offer man, I could pass the info onto you.

Also putting a little disclaimer on it that it is "not an original" is all you need to do, well that's what I do :)

#-o

:-k I wouldn't mind giving it a go
I've already got a cleaned 600dpi file ready to go and could get a few prototypes tomorrow.
I can post pics of them tomorrow next to the original and see what people think. could also test folding them

it should get silkscreened on cloth

Would also buy, but you should make the logo say "Y APOSTROPHE S" to discourage flippers trying to pass it off as legit.  :P

Well got a few tests ran off today.
http://www.ektophase.com/TG16/phase_ysmap_prototype1a.jpg
http://www.ektophase.com/TG16/phase_ysmap_prototype1b.jpg
these first test runs came off a little heavy on the contrast making it look a little dark.

Alternatively I could try to make more of a replica of the original as I found some very close colored paper.
The pic shows more of a difference than in real life and the map has aged 20 years so this could be right on.
http://www.ektophase.com/TG16/phase_papertest.jpg

Have not opened the paper pack yet, do you guys like the prints more or should I try and make it closer to the original on this standard sized colored paper?

Note: the original map did not fit in the jewel case folded

Personally, I think it looks just fine the way you've done thus far, doesn't hurt to be a little bigger than the original, ya know? Great job, man.

Phase, looks good and I don't mind the contrast and the size, hell I like the fold marks and the heavy contrast on the folds, I could frame that sucker for the wall or a tattoo on my ass :)

lol
I'll probably stick with the larger prints then unless I get more feedback, I like them as well and think they will look nicer than if I tried the colored paper route. I will probably get a second round of test prints to see if I can improve it a bit. The printer at the store prints quite a bit differently than what I see on screen and compared to my printer at home.

Do both, film the latter, compress it to fit on a TurboGrafx CD+G. Hand them out to everyone here. Yeah!

Small update, I did a second test print this week with some tweaks, will need to do another though to see if I can get it nicer and more the way I want. I wish I could just use my printer at home, it does large sizes as well but it would just cost way to much, so I'm just going to have to do a few tweaks then check it at the store.. the print is close though so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

I tested folding and it doesn't work very good. Its thicker paper and not colored so after folding and unfolding many times you start to get cracking in the surface with small amounts of white paper showing through. So I will have to roll it up into a box to ship it like I was planning. I'm guessing most people won't want to fold it anyway.

So did you just make a black and white poster that is rather thick?

I am trying to match the average color of the original map
Here are the pics from the first test prints (I kept them as links because they are larger pics)

Will you be offering both versions?

Most I've laughed on the forum in quite some time...

Glad I got on this thread after missing it when I was on vacation.  Coming back to 100000 pages is always a chore/exciting.
