Hello I recently sold my turbo cd and bought a modded PCE Duo, this one to be precise:
http://pcenginefx.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1599&sid=33736f0d5cceed65d94839759d263b9c
Anyway, the cdrom part of the unit seems to have stopped working. When I put a disc it and press run to load the game, it doesn't even attempt to spin the disc. It worked fine when I got it but after sitting for a couple days it seemingly broke for no reason...
Needless to say I'm at a loss as to what to do with it. Are there any places I can get it repaired? Yours thoughts are appreciated.

is the laser sitting all the way over on the right hand side of the tray?
if so, you'll need to open the duo up and wind the mechanism back by hand. this seems to be a reoccuring problem with the original (black) duos especially when playing cdrs as opposed to real discs. It's pretty painless once you've found the right tool bit to open the console with.
if not, then i'm guessing your laser has had it. I believe a guy on these boards called d-lite has been helping other people source new drives, maybe try messaging him?
hope this is of some help and you get the little fella working again :)

Yah the laser is sitting all the way on the right side, I'll have to try that. Thanks. Now where do I get the right kind of bit to open it with?

There's also that trick you can do by melting the end of a pen or something. Here's a link that explains it http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/other/diy-gamebit.htm .

Ive used the pen trick on a TON of snes carts. It will strip out easily and eventually, but its great in a pinch.
