Title: New Here and saying hi
Post by: gamerslife on April 02, 2014, 06:16:54 PM
Hello, I'm brand new to the forum and excited to meet fellow tg/pce players and collectors.  I have a decent collection of great turbo stuff and games.  38 games left till i get the complete US library and jump off the deep end with the pce games.  I got into tg hard around 2010 (probably when most of you finally beat that last game, lol) and it has become my centerpiece console.  When i was a kid no one i knew had a console but i remember playing and enjoying them at KB toys in N. Texas where I'm from and really being amazed at how great they looked and played over the other two big consoles at the time. I love most of the games including bonk series, the endless amount of shooters, right now my fav is gate of thunder, and rpg's with y's 1 & 2 being my fav rpg series of all time.  I'm currently working on a review of Shapeshifter for my youtube channel, as I wanted to pick a game i enjoyed (even with the crappy jumping scheme) but there wasn't a lot of information about on the net.  My prized game right now is ninja spirit.  The reason being is its a fun action platformer and the spirit add-ons are really interesting, also its the last game i got so the newest to the collection. I will also be heading to CGE in Vegas this yr and hope I can make a few friends to meet in person there and hang.

My more personnel stuff is I'm in the Air Force going on 10yrs in July.  I work as a crew chief for F-16 fighters and right now have a position in Tucson working A-10's.  Family, 2 kids an 11yr old and 22mo both girls.  My oldest loves gaming and has been getting sucked into the TG and retro scene in general as she has gotten older.

Well hope that covers what i intended and happy to meet everyone!

Welcome, comrade  (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

I like that you chose Shapehifter for your review, since it certainly needs more appreciation.

Don't wait to get into PCE. So many great, cheap games. You will be happy.

Howdy gamerslife, and welcome. Interesting military background you noted. Glad to have ya aboard. I have a friend in Arizona actually, he works at Intel, restores arcades for fun, and is also one of my greatest Ys translation project backers. Almost forgot another long time friend there also, she, uh, grows pot in her basement for extra income and is a big MMORPG gamer... ;) A little random thoughts there, I know, but that's what came to mind with Arizona. Heh-heh. Well, hope you have fun here and stick around.

Greetings and salutations!  This forum is dead, though... almost no activity ever.  The action is at DoxPhile.com, you should sign up there... oh... wait... :P

I joke, of course. Good to see you here!

Mmhmm, shameless spamming trying to steal active forum members from here concealed in the form of a joke, huh ?? ;)

whoa, not my fault...i had no plugs of any kind I'm just here for all the chicks....lol. I did reg a few days ago after joining the FB page, trying to spread out as much as possible and saw your looking to do a collection add on which is an great idea. Plus i tried to get on this forum over a yr ago i believe it was and nothing so when i got back from afghan it was time to try again. I like the protection and sometimes over protection of helping gamers to obey and not making money with ebay etc. i remember reading the post for a few wayward members and agreeing for the most part. I'm here to help where i can and expect the same ya know...not to help someone fix this or get that game just to see it hit an auction. either way happy to be here...........still hahaha

Welcome!  Ninja Spirit is a great game, but I don't think I would have thought so without it being a pack-in with the Turbo Duo, because I wouldn't have ever tried it out.  Despite being an 80's kid, I was never all that into Ninjas.  Looking back, almost every Ninja game ever made was awesome - Ninja Gaiden, The Shinobi series - Shadow Dancer, Revenge of Shinobi, Shinobi III...  Irem made some great conversions for the PCE/TG16 as well, didn't they?

Not into ninja's for shame :-( I didn't know anyone who was not into ninjas in the 80's, hell ninja's is what prompted me to learn martial arts. But yes there were tons of great ninja games like the ones mentioned but there were some pretty crappy ones too, beware the fake ninja games.

Welcome......Let me guess...You work at Amarg?

Shapeshifter is one of my favorites.  I read your other post about how you die in the sewers.  One trick or method that might help you, you are limited to the number of lives you can have in the game and the game is a save based game.  I start out any level and play through it, after the boss is dead, if I died at all I simply reload and play through it again until I have completed the boss with no lives lost.  This gives you practice through the level obviously.

I do not work there in AD so i work flt line....good suggestion thats what im actually doing with the restarts and if i die more than twice i just go on and mess around thats why i keep dieing. Honestly the game is easy what makes it difficult is the god awful jumping its too percise and if u are on the edge it makes u fall back. But im almost done with it so should be good little video when its done. Thanks
