Title: PCE/TurboGrafx Compatibility
Post by: wooster on May 09, 2006, 09:40:57 AM
Can someone help me with compatibility issues?

I have a TurboGrafx+CD+Arcade Pro card.

Is it possible for me to use this Arcade Pro card on a TurboDuo, even though it has more memory onboard than the Arcade Duo? What will happen if I plug it in? Is there possibility of physical damage?

Also, I just bought the Streetfighter II CE Hucard. I am comparing it to a TurboChip, and I see that the pin connections look exactly the same. It looks like I could simply stick it into my TurboDuo. Why is an adapter needed? Will physical damage result if I try to stick it in the Duo?

Thanks

If you are asking if the arcade pro card will work on a US Duo, no way. If you are asking if it will work on a PC Engine Duo....I don't know. I know they have the arcade card duo and pro, I think the pro will work in a duo, but the duo won't work in a PCE-CD.

The pins looks the same but they are rearranged...it won't damage your system....but it won't work either.

You'll need to get a converter or modify the hucard slot of your TG16 console in order to use japanese hucards and the Arcade Pro card. The reason for this is because the pin layout for both US and Jpn hucards are different. You can try them on your system and they won't do any damage, but nothing will happen either.

Or, if you're feeling really adventurous, install a region selector switch:
