$2000 for two games?? I love both of those titles but holy hell! I want the rare games as much as the next dude/dudette, but for the prices these games are going for nowadays.... I'll have to pass. I'm definitely going to look into getting an everdrive to play these rare titles on my system.

You might have some difficulty playing CD titles on an everdrive...

Same seller is asking $300 for Flash Hiders, which is a easy to find $15 game.  Gouging to the extreme.

He's describing that as MIB/complete but looks like it's missing the spine card.
Does that make it in-complete?

I know that guy from other sites - he has been around since the 90's on the innernets, but not as a seller.

He might be having some need for cash right now, but those prices are banayonaise...  (aside from DE II).

LOL! $300 Flash Hiders  $4 off Rakuten.  What's sad is the people actually spending the money, only to just gouge it for more down the road.

You might have some difficulty playing CD titles on an everdrive...

CD burners work well for that problem.

Have you tried turning the worldwide option on? Sometimes other listings from different countries will pop up when this option is chosen.

I always click that option, but it's not necessary for this one (same country).

You know it's funny, I saw those completed listings that guy had sold, the Terraforming and Super Air Zonk for $750 each on ebay just this weekend, and WOW, but oddly enough he accepted my $50 offer for Mystic Formula which I will be glad to have back in my collection.

Both of the those sellers were just plain looking for the highest buck... I contacted them both and asked if they had others to sell. Both responded with now you are looking for a break huh? That's ok though, let them pay the e-bay fees... There is another seller though who has alot less feedback but his items in mint condition... His prices however, not so much....

So you weren't looking for a break? Not even a go before listings? That's why you contacted them, just to have the same footing as any bidder?
Title: Re: rarer titles up on ebay....
Post by: madboom0522 on May 27, 2014, 12:38:26 PM
I contacted them to ask if they had others the might be willing to list before the went up on e-bay. If I could have worked a deal and they saved on fees then great. I was only trying to get a crack at them before open market. Does not mean that I would not be willing to pay a fair price? No, I would have. However a price beyond e-bay norms is not a fair price.

And you are? You should read before making an assumption. He said he asked if they had others to sell. Trust me dude he does not need a break. Maybe he was looking for a better copy? or maybe just maybe he knows the pricing E-bay has and offered to same money and not have E-bay take 10% you have no idea about who Boom is. A golden rule you will learn here real fast, like the rest of us did, think before you post :-)

Have a nice day.

Okay, but that's not a break? Sounds like exactly the break you are looking for.

Whoa there, Tex, stand down. These guys are selling on ebay. Their sales are intrinsically linked to the prices on ebay. It's the whole reason there is ever any bellyaching over collectible prices in the first place. You have no idea who the sellers are. You don't know that they're perfectly okay dropping 10% to ebay, or is it supposed to be a privilege to sell to madboom? Hell, what if they just haven't moved their stuff out of storage and don't want to be bothered? Inventory can be a bitch sometimes. But complaining that someone won't sell to you directly so let them eat ebay fees is all kinds of backwards, the only injured party here is madboom, smacks a little hypocrisy to these eyes.

Thanks for the well-wishes though, I'm definitely having a nice day. Off to the hospital, wife giving birth. :D

I am far from injured.... I am also not new to e-bay nor this forum. When sellers list sometimes it is out of need not full blown or beyond fair prices. I have made many a deals by contacting e-bay members direct and being fair with them. In turn it has been a great way to buy the games at less then full blown retail. I guess in your eyes that means I'm getting a break , huh? I'm sorry that good business means paying more than what is fair market value. Oh that's right, I KEEP FORGETTING BEING A COLLECTARD MEANS PAYING WAY MORE THAN FAIR MARKET VALUE...

It pays to find a good seller and make connections.

I have done that with my comic collecting.  I have a few I initially bought comics from on eBay (moved out of my home town and the place i lige now does not have a comic shop sigh) and was able to strike up a cored with them to at times sell me stuff direct through PayPal invoice and all but no eBay.

Mutual respect fair price no middle man and best of all better prices.

Better footing? Hell yes....but I am also a repeat customer and I work off a list that I provide my more trusted sellers.  If they get something I am looking for and they remember to give me dibs at a x amount bamb it's mine.

It's how I got my amazing spider-man #1, and a few others.....sure they are maybe a 2.0 or lower 5.0 on some of my silver age stuff but they are at uninfalted prices and at times bulk buying got us both what we wanted.

I have attempted that with the retro gaming market and I don't know....hasn't worked out and I don't know if it is a different mind set of collector versus seller when it comes to comic and games.....

I find the only good footing you can find when it comes to gaming and collecting is to keep it within the Comunity and sell or trade from within. You are more likely to make better connections, longer lasting friendships, and at times straight up gift giving just so a fellow gamer can experience a good game or system.

I have given away at lest 4 NES system I refurbished along with a few common but good games like Metroid and Zelda just so a friend can experience a classic and enjoy the dang thing.

What do I need with 4 extra NES systems I found on the cheap when I have my primary system and at lest one stand by if needed....

At the moment maybe 90% of my stuff is in storage.

Just got married and am in the process of house hunting.

Wife's must: look moder

My must: man cave

It's litterly my goal to have a man cave be it a dean in the huge or a detached room....

So my buying is considerably cut short as we are putting as much as we can in our house saving budget.

I have a considerable amount of stuff

From my comics, military equipment that I kept after I completed my 8 years, a few 50s coke machines, my fuss all table, some 50s barstools I used when gaming on my arcade (I have one and always looking) ....

Mind you I never thought I'd own many of my items...

But you'd be a,axed what you can score if you really hit up flea markets, Craigslist and antique shoppes....my moving to a very ...how shall we say one horse town actually helped me find some vintage stuff I like.

My wife sees a 50s chromed toaster with frayed corde and walks away at goodwill....I stop and buy it for $1 then spend a weekend cleaning, polishing and replacing its coard...

Now we have a toaster that when I make my toast or beagle I can't help but think of the movie "the brave little toaster).  Then I make faces at it until it gives me my toast!
