Ys I and II and more! (http://cgi.ebay.com/FOUR-4-TG16-TURBOGRAFX-16-Games-MINT-Turbo-Graphx_W0QQitemZ8283534799QQcategoryZ4315QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

And finally picked up a copy of Ys I-II!!

That looks like a great deal. The Ys I & II is not new, as they indicated, because it originally came in a box. However, as long as the CD is in good shape, I think you still got a nice deal.

Bonk's Adventure + Ys I & II will pay for the price of admission.

If the box for JB Harold Murder club is in good shape, I'll buy the game from you should you ever want to sell it.

JB Harold and ICFTD are not given much love these days, but JB Harold is a solid game (give it a chance!) and as far as ICFTD is concerned... well, Keranu can share his insights with you. The TG-CD version of ICFTD is totally unique (FMV) and significantly different than all other computer / console versions of the game, for starters...

Nice deal you got. Some people might have negative comments about J.B. Harold, and more especially, It Came From the Desert, but I am a big fan of both games.

J.B. Harold is a detective game with a case that will keep you on your feet for days. It might not be so flashy, but the story is incredible and I actually enjoy the style of it a lot. When you finally beat the game and all the clues are uncovered, it should be well worth your time :) .

It Came From the Desert, specifically the TGCD version we are talking about here, gets crapped on a lot. Yes, it is a FMV-based game and if you've ever experienced those on Sega CD or have read about them, you know they are a genre people generally say to stay away from.

However, It Came From the Desert is more enjoyable if you ask me. ICFTD is more like watching an interactive movie with fun mini-games to play so the story can proceed. The mini-games could certainly be touched up, but it gets the job done and if you are half interested in the story, it should make the game enjoyable.

What really makes me amused by the game is the horror of it; I actually find it to be a pretty creepy game! There is one such mini game where a friend of yours will be laying on the ground with killer ants that creep up to the person and eat their flesh while they are living, which requires you to blast off the ants before your friend gets eaten alive. The horror factor of it is that you actually see the flesh getting eaten off until you see bones in blood in the spot they were chewing while the character is screaming for their life in great terror... it really freaked me out :O .

You might be turned off when you first load ICFTD, but if you at least try to give it more time, you might actually find it to be a pretty interesting and cool game like I did :) .

Good deal, but it always pisses me off when people seal games themselves stating they're new. Scumbags!

Yeah, I wasn't really sure about the sealed/new/mint thing.  Are the Bonk CD versions any better/worse than the hucards?  If not, I would probably off my copy of Bonk's revenge(hucard).  Also, Steve if you want JB Harold, name your price.  It only goes for 20 bucks brand new on TZD.

Bonk 3 CD is better than Bonk 3 HuCard if you ask me, but of course it's more expensive and rare for the USA versions, so get the Japanese CD instead :) . The graphics and controls are the same, but I think the music is better for the most part on the CD (there was one really awesome, rockin' remixed tune in it) and it also includes this hidden mini game stage where you can play these various mini games with the computer or second player and they are quite fun! As for Bonk's Adventure and Bonk's Revenge on the Gate of Thunder CD, they are identical to the HuCards.

I think I got a pretty good deal here to:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280000029968&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Now I just have to hope the seller is reliable, which is always fun.

Dude, Nice find - Is this not the same auction that is ending a bit after the one you just won?  Check it.

Bonk 3 CD (http://cgi.ebay.com/Turbo-Duo-grafx-Bonk-3-Bonks-Big-Adventure-CD_W0QQitemZ280000060717QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting)

Checked out his other auctions, A drac X for sale going for only 40 bucks with  only a few hours left.  The case looks like its been replaced (its not white) but even so.  However, I'm a bit scared due to no feedback and listing that Bonk 3 auction twice using the same image.

Also I noticed that "macpon33" with no feedback is the high bidder on both his gate of thunder auction as well as his 18" chrome rims!!

Yeah I messaged him about the other copy of Bonk 3 cavein and he said he had 2.  I was very skeptical but decided to take the chance.  Hopefully I do not get screwed.

Ohh yeah, look who scored the second copy of Bonk 3 :D http://cgi.ebay.com/Turbo-Duo-grafx-Bonk-3-Bonks-Big-Adventure-CD_W0QQitemZ280000060717QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

That's a steal, how much does this game normally go for now? I usually recall this being in the $150 zone.

Certainly tell us how things went... :)

Ya I'm with Steve.  What is the worst that could happen though?  Anyway, did anyone pick up that Drac X?  It was at 40 last time I checked.  I would have picked it up but promised myself I wouldn't make any more video game purchases in the next month or two.
Title: I'm pretty sure I just got a sweet ass deal here!!
Post by: Keranu on May 15, 2006, 10:26:26 AM
Well after I won the auction, I observed the image of Bonk 3 CD better and clearly noticed the front cover saying PCECP.COM on the bottom right hand side. I immediately notified the seller about it and asked if the game was original and complete and he responded back saying the game didn't have instructions and he would cancel the auction if I wasn't interested. I then checked www.tzd.com (http://www.tzd.com/) to see if they had instructions for Bonk 3 CD for sale and luckily they do, so I contacted the seller back asking if the case is original and contains the side and back inserts, so if it is all good, I'll continue buying the game from him and purchase the instructions from TZD. I'll let you know how it goes.

EDIT: And oh yeah, Dracula X ended for $51 I think.

Hey guys, those auctions were definitely for boots, I have been watching them since the start, and I noticed the same thing as keranu the pcecp in the corner. also isn't it funny there is no shot of the actual disc? and theres a stack of cdr on top of the tgcd unit in some of the pics. I reported these listings to ebay back when they started but got no results. I really hope if anyone here won and already paid that they can get a refund from paypal.

P.S.: sorry about not posting earlier, i was waiting for my conf. email

Hey, thanks for the scoop :). We should start a new thread (we've had several in the past) that warned folks of sellers who looked "dodgy". Now, that doesn't mean that everyone we discuss is a scammer. Rather, it means that the seller(s) in question use tactics that are undesirable and cause for alarm.

Personally, the fact that this seller had "0" feedback was enough for me to pass. Too bad we can't connect him to his past history with ebay (to see if he was selling bootlegs under a different name and had to start a new account due to negative feedback).

Keranu and cave: I'd ask for photos of the discs -- BOTH OF THEM IN ONE PHOTO... as long as the seller doesn't have photoshop skills, he'll have to provide real evidence to assuage our fears :).

Keranu: no it wasn't me, I almost did contact the ebay members who were bidding but I actually believed (foolishly) that ebay would handle the matter. There was another ebayer some months back from U.K. who was selling boots of Drac X (seems to be a common boot on ebay) and Dynastic Hero US. Even though those ones had a low BIN, the guy was clearly trying to pull a fast one. I have no problem with people selling backups of PCE CD games, as long as its clearly stated.

BTW Keranu, your name sounds familiar to me, used to be in the PCE Hub by any chance? :D

This seller is definitely sounding like a scammer now, here is his latest response:

"first of all you need to look at the description BEFORE you start bidding. I am 100% sure you will never get the original case for a game thats over 15 years old and in fact I its a slim chance that you will find a original copy of the game either this game is VERY hard to come by and you are being picky so what i would do is send you you money back as soon as it hit the back. Please SIR dont waste my time. Again you WILL get your money back its not that serious. send your address to my personal e-mail address this how serious I am barnesjl33@comcast.net I not trying to jip anyone"

I have been really friendly with him in my messages, even my one replying this this one, but I find this message on the rude side. He didn't really answer my question asking of the case was real, so I mentioned it again alone with reminding him again if the actual game was real. I told him if they weren't, he can go ahead and refund my order. Also, I didn't give him my address.

yes thats it. I thought I knew you from somewhere :)

so you sent payment by paypal? and he wants to send back through the mail? And then this "refund" will conveniently get lost in the mail. I love how he dodges a simple question and then gets angry at you for asking it. pretty typical scammer stuff. If you did pay with paypal, I really hope you can get a refund. $80 may not be a lot of money for some people to lose out on, but it sure is for me.

I hope he refunds my money on Pay Pal as well. My Pay Pal account sends e-checks, so it usually takes a few days to clear and it hasn't cleared yet. Maybe I can cancel it before he is even able to refund?

Oooops, sorry cavein, I mixed you up with merriman_uk!

Keranu -- immediately take steps via ebay AND paypal. At the very least, write a short letter documenting what happened (i.e. the seller is advertising a genuine product but actually selling a bootleg) and how this matter can be resolved (i.e. you want to cancel the transaction immediately and get a full refund). Tell them you can provide more details, but keep your first letter short and to the point.

Make sure you keep a record of all your emails, since you will appear  trustworthy when you can provide documentation to support your claims. Save all of your correspondence with the seller, paypal, ebay.

This is the minimum you should do, I'd try to stop payment (if possible) ASAP :)

merriman_uk -- Do the same thing as Keranu. If you didn't use paypal, take the appropriate steps (perhaps we can help?). For example, if you sent the equivalent of cash (money transfer, money order), I don't know if you have any recourse outside of ebay. In the US, money orders from the US Post Office do have some guarantees, but I'm not entirely clear on the details. That's the sort of thing that you'd have to figure out, since you are on the other side of the pond. :)

geez.  I didn't even notice the pcecp in on the instructions.  The only reason I didn't pick up the Drac X was because didn't have a white plastic piece on the left side of the CD case and because the seller was also selling two Bonk 3s with the same image.  Good eye Keranu for spotting that!!

Holy cow, I forgot to comment on this, since this seller is an absolute ass! The description on his auction is minimal, but he doesn't mention that he's selling CDR's with fake covers printed out from PCECP.com !!!  What a bastard! And I love how he describes you as being "too picky" and claims that "15 year old games" for any console are nearly impossible to find! What a loser!

I wonder how many people will now buy this CD-Rs from him, and think they came from pcecp.com -- that would explain the rash of "How much is this game?" emails that I have been getting from the PCECP feedback form.

The more folks who report these things to eBay, the more likely they are to get this guy pulled.  I will fully admid it is not highly likely, but if enough complain, it will happen.

Maybe we just need a daily post of auction numbers of the slimeballs so that we can all report them

Well I'm glad you got your refund Keranu because when I asked for one this is the response I got from him:

"what you need to do is go to tzd.com and order the instruction booklet to that game and move on. First off, I've spent 14 years finding that game, thats hard it is to get this game. The reason I am saying this because i dont have a good copy of the game, but I wanted the game so much I said at least i got it. I know you cant say that it dosent work because its been tested on an original turbo grafx-16 cd game console and 2 turbo duo's. I just dont understand you guys when they made this game it cost hudson soft 65 cents a copy to make this game. How many bootleg cd's and movies you have made or brought? I bet you you download and burn music everyday. Enjoy the game because you will NEVER get the real thing and I am 99.9% sure of that. Remember its 2006, this game came out in 1993 you think they are still making this game? COMON be happy that you got the game. I sure was"

I just can't believe the nerve of this a$$hole.

what you need to do is go to tzd.com and order the instruction booklet to that game and move on.

"I found 2 copys of bonk 3 on ebay vintage games hu card 199 cd 224.95 U got to be stupid Or just dumb which one? and I dont want that back I have one already. "

MERRIMAN! How did you pay? Did you take the minimum steps I outlined in my prior post?

I would reply to the seller, but be firm and to the point: "I don't want to buy a pirated game from you, period. You can't persuade me to change my mind. I want a refund immediately, since your auction was intentionally misleading."

I have to say, this seller is missing a chromosome or two. And that's putting it nicely :).

Paypal is much worse than Ebay themselves. They froze my account for NO reason. In other words: they stole my money and ruined my business. I had unpaid auctions and now I'm getting unpaid item strikes against my account. I've contacted their support again and again but they're just sending me brainless replies that doesn't answer anything.

ya, I had a bid on that, was going to try to pick it up for up to 100 bucks, but didn't want to spend the full $140 since I'm not a huge fan of cardboard boxes.

Ahh merriman_bk, so you bought that Bonk 3 CD auction :D . I was really close to buying it since it was such a good price, but I had to stop myself since I am spending a lot of money on other things coming up. Congratz!

Yah I figured what the hell, can't find it for a much better price on ebay -- although I really need to stop spending money too hehe.
