Title: MAME game saves?
Post by: cavein2000 on May 17, 2006, 02:46:37 PM
I have never messed around with arcade emulation and want to try out MAME.  I downloaded a file called mame0106b and extracted the files to a folder, but have no clue what to do from there.  I can't find an .exe file and if I could I still need some basic guidance on how to operate the software and where to get games.  Any helpful websites?

First, don't ask where to get roms. It's prohibited here, but talking about emulation is fine.

The executable is there it's named "mame" usually a file the size of 8mb. It should be there just looker closer.

Also the file you download "mame0106b" might be the dos version. For the gui version the file you should get says something like "mame32v106b".

Heres the website where you can downloaded it from.

Yup.

Options -> Default Game Options -> Controllers. Then select "Enable Joystick Input".

You also might have to reconfigure the button layout. In order to do that first load the game you to play, pass the warning screens, and then press "TAB" key. Select either "INPUT (in general)" or "INPUT (this game)". Really easy.
