I am sorry when this has been answered before, but I cant seem to find an answer to this - maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
Recently I acquired a Coregrafx and region modded it, it worked right from the start.
What I noticed though was 2 things:
-Sometimes it would not recognize from the start a turbochip (white screen), I have to take out the card and re-insert it. Sometimes 2-3 times, until it works. Why?
-Japanese System Card 1.0, 3.0 and Arcade Pro give out a white screen when I switched to "US". They won´t work in that mode - is this normal?
I am fine with playing turbochips - which was the main reason for me doing this. But I always thought for some reason that japanese system cards would still work in "us"-mode.
Thanks for any help!

1) Dirty slot maybe? Try cleaning it if you haven't already done so.
2) They don't work in US mode because they're PCE hueys; system cards are not region free.
3) Heh, dirty slots.

Ok, thanks for the hint. Wasn´t sure, now I know better
Whats the best solution in cleaning the slot? Card contacts are clean (I can tell, they work instantly in my TE...).

I've never done it, but others have suggested a paper towel with a little alcohol over an old credit card. Make sure it's a good quality, sturdy towel; you don't want bits left behind.

Mmmh....okay. Doesn´t sound like the solution I am after. What about a cleaning kit? Is there a source for the TG16/PCE available for a fair price? Unfortunately the last one slipped past me on e..y...

For cleaning the Hucard-slot of my Turbo Duo, I'm using a polystyrene sheet with a sheet of baking paper soaked in alcohol. PS sheets are inexpensive (you should be able to get them at Conrad Electronic or hardware/DIY stores) and are available in a variety of thicknesses. It's very easy to cut them into shape using scissors.
Well, in my case I had some sheets laying around anyway for model making purposes.

PS=Polysterene? Do you have a picture perhaps of what it looks like?

A cleaning kit is nothing but a little bottle of alcohol and a cheap piece of plastic covered in felt tape. Knock yourself out paying 100x as much as what you likely have sitting under your sink.

I putt rubbing alcohol on a hu card and insert about 10-15 times. Cleans the hu card contacts up real nice as well.

Got your point. On the other hand that Doc´s cleaning kit went for under 10 bucks...so... :-k

Thanks, I think I´ll try that. Makes sense!

This is what I do.

An old credit card and coffee filter works well. I like to use Deoxit, but alcohol should work
for most cases.

@wolfman: Polystyrene is a type of plastic similar to PVC which is often used for model making purposes and found in plastic model kits (e.g. Tamiya, Revell). I think it is also known as Polystyrol in Germany.

Do you mean this one?

Yes, but 5mm will be way too thick. A HuCard is roughly 2.5mm thick, so 2mm sheet could be the right size to fit into the slot along with alcohol soaked paper, coffee filter or whatever you'd like to use for cleaning.

Thanks!
