It seems I remember seeing something on it, I may be imagining it tho.  But, I do believe it had been done, but it was not a very good port, or whatever you'd call it.

I'm going to take a look at this in a bit.

Thanks guy for your help, I will give this a try when i get in. Is this just a demo or did they manage to port the whole game in the end?

No, its only like the first stage, and it doesnt end.  Basically you can reach the end, but it doesnt roll over to the 2nd stage.

ok fair enough, from what i read somewhere else they were working on this back in 2008, does anyone know what the progress of this game is now & is it anywhere near completion?

There are a couple Greenhill zone demos in the medium  res with assets taken straight from the Genesis Sonic. It uses dynamic tiles for parallax. There are CD and rom versions. Whenever this comes up, people usually post the much older using the SMS Sonic sprite.

ok Ive played it today & it is a little sluggish on the jumps also you can't finish the level without collecting the 2 emeralds, but with that being said I think with a little tweaking this would make a great port to the system.

Has anyone got any process news on this game?

how good do the parallaxes looking?

how good do the parallaxes looking?

It's just a proof of concept by one person in their spare time. It doesn't have the same variety as the original yet, but does show how it could be done.

I did the music.  I haven't heard from Xavier in years, I don't know what happened, maybe Touko knows, I recall them being in contact, but I could be wrong.

Thank you Mr Tiger for the info, has anyone got the Cd or rom versions to compare?

it's been a while (1 year and half) i don't have any news about xavier, even on necstasy forum ..
I think he has some health problems, but i'am not sure .

It'd be funny if someone did a faithful port of a Sonic stage for SuperGrafx, except made it faster and with less flicker. What would all the "PCE is only 8-bit and can't keep up with Genesis/SNES cuz the cpu" people say? Probably something stupid like "the PCE only has 2 x 8-bit cpus, but the SGX has 3, so it's not the same".

Xavier's sonic was made with huc, this why is a little bit slow, plus is an old version .
I know he has a new version ,with some improvements, but no public release exist .

Impressive either way!

If he could do that with HuC on his own, imagine what  NEC / Avenue could have done with their team... and then be glad that they didn't...

Hopefully Xavier is doing okay health wise...

That game looks very good and colorful.  Except for the mountains in the background that look like spikes and scare me every time Sonic jumps, I am a fan.

Gameplay obviously needs to be optimized...  however, in the spirit of the unlicensed Sonic ports on other systems (Famicom), perhaps this is the way God intended it.

Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only person who continually thought those mountains looked like spikes.

But yeah, cool tech demo and with more polish I'm sure it would be pretty solid.

I detect a distinct lack of Blast Processing.

If you want to see Blast Processing x 2 (Turbo Processing?), checkout the first stage boss of Lucretia.

yeah it doesn't look super satisfying compared to the original, but it is a very good start. basically the parallax seems to be the only one big hurdle, as discussed so many times before.

probably should rather become a SGFX port

the music is marvelous ^^

This port is actually a SGX/PCE hybrid.

Thanks!  I remember Keranu thinking it had a Valis/Telenet sound to it.  Also, I've often wondered if I should've gone with a different sound for the melody, perhaps a violin instead of the piano.

I think, it works better on real hardware than a youtube video, i have tested this version when it was done, and it was not bad at all, mainly for a huc project .

Genesis does wha... no, wait, the PCE does what Nintendon't, well that's the idea. And I thought Megaman on the PCE was far out, I wonder what other things can be done on it...

The Port is a great proof of concept, I'd love a full game in the style of the Turbo.
