Yes, awesome as well... but this makes me want to tear up the floor and break shit!!!! Should have mentioned HuCard/Chip tunes only
Dungeon Explorer for chiptunes only. Honourable mention to Air Zonk.
I especially like Dungeon Explorer as well!!! Tatsujin is nice as well... if only I could get past stage 2.... awww man!!! I also really like Dragon's Curse and Dragon Sabre as well.

Final Soldier has a pretty rocking soundtrack, if we're keeping it chiptune only. So do both the Crush games.

My vote is for any of the YS series. If I had to choose out of them probably it would have to be YS 1&2 :)

PC Engine Music: Ys I.II (complete soundtrack) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOcaYkzYq7U#)
Soldier Blade, he was kidding right ? That was boring and I much more enjoyed the Super Star Soldier soundtrack of stage 2 and 6 over it. No, this is a contest between Ys Book I & II if you lean on RPGs versus Gate of Thunder if you lean on shooters... I'm far more partial to Ys for numerous reasons, and for the soundtrack revolution that Falcom led based on the idea of as the President once said, "Even if you don't like our games, we'll make sure you love our music in them!"
