Title: Replacing Goldcap/Briefcase Unit
Post by: wolfman on August 10, 2014, 05:16:57 AM
Just a quick question to senior modders, as I am preparing another electronic parts order for a complete recap of my IFU:

Is it possible to replace the Goldcap with one bigger in capacity? As I am leaving my unit without power over longer periods I am curious if could keep my saves longer without using a Tennokoe.

Yes.... keep the same voltage, the higher the Farads the longer it's charged.

The standard value is 0.047F 5.5v (47000uF)

Vishay 196 DLC Standard Form A 13x7mm

They have one thats 1.0F, that's 21.3 times the capacity.

This is the same line as 13x7mm but as it's has higher capacity it's a little bigger 21x7.5mm

It should be no problem fitting that there, and if it holds for 3 month on the old it should with this hold for 5 years, in theory any how.

I already found one with a little less than yours, with exact dimensions of its original predecessor!
