Title: One month update!
Post by: smbulletz on August 26, 2014, 04:31:31 PM
I had to luck and pleasure of getting a great deal on a PC Engine Duo-R last month.  I was so happy to get it as I had to sell my Turbo Duo and collection about 6 years ago.  So after a month of modding, buying games(24)and of course gaming, I thought I would share some pics of my mod job.  I did all the mods myself: added region switch, region LEDs (blue for US & Green for Jp), S-video, Component video and Stereo jacks all while leaving the factory A/V port in tact & functioning.  The factory red LED was replaced with a brighter red LED.  Please share your opinions.  Thanks!

LEDs (blue for US & Green for Jap.)

Could you please amend this? Use JP.

Also, looks cool.

Hey pretty good work. I like the green and blue. Why does it have a red light in the middle?   Looks nicer with just the solid green and blue.

Also what is that red thing at the hu card port? The region switch?

The red LED lights up when playing CD games and that is a region switch in the hu card port

I had a feeling that was the case...

I know the light is needed to show the CD is accessing (or maybe not that much lol), but it seems to really disrupt the color you go going...I'd personaly not have the red light at all, or maybe as a very soft white light to blend in better with the blue and green which are much more cooler colors that evok a mellow feeling.

As for the regin switch...seems sorta out of place, but with the flap down it is 90% of the time out of sight out of mind I'd suppose.

Over all A+ work I'd say..

You are correct. The whole reason for putting the region switch there is so it would be out of sight for the most part.  I didn't want to put any holes in the top part of the housing like I've seen others do for their region switch. The red LED doesn't bother me to much but if I decide to go without or a soft white it will be very simple....just desolder 2 leads .  Thanks for the critique.

Love the back port placement, iffy on the lights, switch is under the flap so it doesn't matter.

Bang up job...
